Nothing gives us such a comforting feeling as knowing where we are. Even if we don't, but have a map, we 'feel' more comfortable. Every reasonable person going into unknown territory brings one, soldiers carry them in waterproof cases, flyers used to have them printed on silk bandanas, even Claire Chennault and the Flying Tigers of WorldWar II carried silk maps when flying over China. Many popular hiking areas sell bandanas today with local maps printed on them.

I ALWAY keep this one with me. I have printed it out onto small cards, laminated them, and put them in all my emergency kits, bags, and satchals. Here is a copy for you....

Believe me... It's come in handy once or twice! :p

The once or twice it's been handy.....that's been when the funny looking little fellas came and picked you up in their big shiny ship with all the lights right? :D

That would come in handy if one gets lost in their travels to and or from the restaurant at the end of the universe :D.

Funny thing is, I think it really *could* come in handy.

It immediately made me think of things in perspective and made me smile - makes my problems seem just a little less important in the grand scheme of things. Sort of has a calming effect.

But then, I've been a bit weird like that since my last alien encounter.

PING! And the penny drops! :)
To my way of thinking, nothing is quite as important in a crisis situation as calm, rational thinking. And short of a bottle of calm, the 'run and shout' mantra, or 1000's of hours of training, a good laugh can do it.

But then, I've been a bit weird like that since my last alien encounter.

Perhaps... just perhaps... this is why most of us are here? :p
