Emerson Apache - Makes a clicking sound when opening.

My wife recently bought an Emerson Apache for me. I'm having an issue with the knife making a loud clicking sound as the knife opens. I suspect the liner lock or a detent may be an issue. This knife is considerably more tight than my CQC-7. I called Emerson; the representative suggested I send the knife back for warranty repair. I find it hard to believe this meets their expectation upon final inspection before being sold. At this point, if I need to send it back I would rather return it. Open to suggestions... Hoping I've overlooked a simple fix. I failed to mention the Mrs. is not happy that I will not carry the knife she bought me.

Here is a short video of the issue I'm having. Thanks for watching.

Sounds fine to me. I've never had that model, but it most likely just needs to be broken in. Open and close it...a bunch.

I never had one like that. They usually sound like an old screen door until they break in.

Sounds like the detent is really strong. Im curious how is sounds when actually opening it in hand not awkwardly on the table. The detent probably just needs to be bent in a little

Based solely on that video... there's nothing wrong with it. That's a strong detent when opening and the kick coming to rest against the stop pin when closing because the blade gets "sucked in" right at the end of the closing process. That's what most of us want in our new Emersons. It will smooth out over time. Sit on the couch with your wife, watch her favorite programs with her, and open and close the knife she gave you to speed the break-in process.

It's all good. No problem.
