Emerson isn't the only company that makes knives that work for me, but the models that I like and can use work better for me than just about any other company's knives. They cut exceptionally well, they feel very secure and comfortable in my hand, and they're easy to maintain. Out of the 10 or 12 Emerson's I've owned, I've had zero issues with fit, finish, or failure of any kind.
Like others have said, I have knives in current high end steels, I have knives with very high quality production standards in terms of handle scales, internal tolerances, attention to detail, etc. All of them have a certain attraction for me or I wouldn't have bought them. But what I carry and use when I want a knife that is pure function and causes me no worries is one of my Emersons.
