if they offered this would anyone other than me be interested? every not and again when i try to use the wave feature to open my knife it doesn't quite get there. i think a little assist would be option would be pretty cool

Mr. Emerson if you're reading this have you ever considered this?

I dont really have any problems with the wave but I wouldnt be up for an assisted opener.
The EKIs I carry are all waveless bar the k,bit any way. They all open easily with just
a flick of the wrist so there is just no need for an extra mechanism IMO.

How close are you coming when you try to wave open a knife? Might just need a little adjustment to the angle or the amount of force you're using.

An AO wave does sound intriguing but also somewhat incongruous with what Emersons are. Extra moving parts and gadgets, even if they'd be well made, aren't really their thing.

i only fail to get it open like 1-10 times. usually if the knife isn't set far enough back in the pocket

I found with the wave twisting the knife as you deploy it helps "fire" the blade out.
The pocket wraps round the knife a bit so it always has something to lever off.

i've been trying that. it seems to do the trick when it's in my back pocket.

Although I took my wave off.... :D

when it was still on the knife, I did what Haze recommends, and I also played with how tight the pivot was - I found there was a definite sweet spot.

and, to answer your first question, I'd say no on the assisted opener - normal opener is fine for me :)

i dont think i would have any interest in an AO EKI.

if thats what ya like kershaw makes some nice ones, AO has just never grabbed me.

I have a few AO's I find they are boring, kinda like watching paint dry.

I used to have quite a few AO knives. All or most have been traded away or sold. I realize that I prefer to be in complete control of opening my knife. No more AO's for me. Kershaw has a ready abundance of AO knives available, I don't think it would go over well with an Emerson.

So far, all of the AOs I have used have broken.

I really like the Wave, but if he can make an AO that is robust, I would at least try it out.

I own a Leek and have used other Kershaws with a/o and I wouldn't buy another. I'd rather have the Emerson Wave. I can reliably Wave open my Snubby faster than I can deploy my Leek. I just don't care for a/o anymore.

There have been a few other clues, like "If you push a button, it does something", that lead a lot of people to think that it may be an Emerson auto.

Useless for me, but some people may like that.

Spring loaded? Sure does sound like an auto of some sort.
We'll have to wait and see. Probably for a long while. :)

now an auto EKI, that i would be interested in.

i had one of the old gerbers a few yrs back, the alliance IIRC, any way it was just not up to par with EKI imho, it was kinda sloppy, wasnt cheap either $150 (well wasnt cheap for a gerber)or so, mine was an early one and i heard they did get a bit better as time went on but i never saw or handled another so cant say 4sure.
