I purchased this Commander brand new. It was manufactured in 2002 (s/n 1560) back when EKI was using the ceramic coating which, I am told, is actually harder than the underlying steel it protects.
It has been carried much (in rotation) and used (not abused) but ... the knife is fresh back from EKI for some spa time and, as the photos reflect, has early lock-up, centered blade and, of course a new EKI provided sharpening. It's butter smooth in opening with that click-snap finish we like.
