Emerson CQC 13 or Spyderco Paramilitary 2

Emerson makes a hell of a knife, id give it a go. The para is going to be a great slicer, but other than that the emerson excels.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. i read up on those compression locks and because the PM2 is easier on the wallet i think ill go with that one.

Thanks for the feedback,I'll definitely check out a PM2. and I said punishment because the knife will have to stand daily use in construction.

Roofer here, I carry a CTS-20CP Para2 on the roof and it's more than plenty enough to handle the abuse I give it. Dropped it off a roof a couple of times, pried, cut felt, shingles (I winced when I did that, never again) been through plenty of tear offs and it still comes back for more.

If you want an Emerson for hard use I would rather look at the CQC-10 or the CQC-8/ Horseman. Reason being is the 13 has a very fine tip, possibly even finer than the Para 2!

I am a big fan of Spyderco so I would go with that option myself. For the money, the Para 2 is one of the best 'bang for your buck' folders on the market today. I also prefer the compression lock to the liner lock.

As to the chisel grind, I didnt have a problem with it myself. I prefer a V grind because I find its just easier to sharpen, especially if you're dealing with a recurve. But if you get a CQC-10 or 8 (the full size version of the Horseman) you shouldnt have a problem sharpening it. Its 154CM so it comes up easily if you strop it on the back of an exam pad regularly to keep it sharp.

I carry a 13 on occasion and outside of the wave feature it's a great knife. It does not have a chisel grind either. It has a V grind. No complaints with the one I own. Don't care for Spydies so cant' comment. keepem sharp

construction sites? stick with emerson.

Yes. Also, Emerson makes models with modified blade grinds other than chisel. He makes a V-grind, although even that one, his new CQC-7V, is almost more of a modified chisel that a standard v-grind.
I have both knives. For rough work...definitely do the Emerson.

I think my best bet is going down to the local store and handling both of them, seems the Emerson is stronger, but the para is sufficient. thanks for the feedback everybody
