Emerson CQC-7 Karambit lubrication?

I recently took mine apart to clean it. Before that it worked perfectly. Would fly out with the flick of my wrist, and the blade would be centered perfectly between the liners, the release would be crisp and smooth. Basically it was tight, but the bearings worked really well.

Now I cannot get it to flick at all. It's like the bearing is stuck in the little hole on the blade. Is there a proper way to lubricate it? I thought you are supposed to use graphite on the washers.

the washers are self-lubricating telfon/nylon.

Clean all other contaiminants off and put just a drop or two of mineral oil, militec-1, clp, 2in1 or somthing of the like on the blade where the washers ride and 1 drop on the pivot and reinstall then, with a clean pivot pin put a drop of 'blue' loctite on it and reinstall and tension untill its where you like it and let it sit for 24hrs before using.

What exactly is the pivot pin? Is it the screw that controls tension? There are two bearings on it. Only put the oil on the the washers where the come in contact with the blade, not also the Ti liners?

i have found the best lube for EKI's is tuffglide or rem-oil, you can get a bottle of the rem-oil at walmart for $1.49, a lot of lubes seem to be too thick for EKI's and makes them kinda "sluggish" when waving or inertia opening them.

yes the pivot pin is what the blade pivots on, and it controls tension.

i would lube both sides of the washers if it was me.

you can also ues teflon tape to secure the pivot pin which i like better than loctite but loctite will work too if you get the threads clean (male and female threads).

Lubing only one side prevents them from spinning and creaint more friction, by have only th blade side lubed only the blade moves and move quite freely, as compared to when the washers move with the blade.

bribear- its sounds as if you really hav ethe pivot pin too tight for you liking, it should not be tight, just barley snug.

Don't over-lube. I find the action is smoother the next day after lubing.

Hey thanks for the help guys. I used some WD-40 on the knife side of the washers, and then on the bearings in the liners. Let it set for a day and then started breaking it in (again). After a few days it's starting to open just like it used to.
