Hey all,
I have recently acquired a knife I have wanted for a longtime. When I received my CQC7B the edge was not what I expected. Just below the angle change for the tanto there were “tall” or jagged spots on the edge. I used the knife for a few days it ( I know it’s a hard use knife not a slicer) but I was bothered by the lack of cutting ease compared to my other knives. I have sharpened many Benchmades, syodercos, and many other brands. This thing is hoard for me to sharpen for some reason. I know it’s a chisel grind so I put it on a worksharp bench stone. With the be el side down I attempt to sharpe the knife. I have gotten a bur to form a few times and when this happens I flip the blade over and ever so slightly bevel side up use the stone to push the burr back with a pass or two. I have an old Benchmade super cqc7 that I can get so sharp it will shave my arm hair. This Emerson CQC7B will not cooperate with me. If anyone has any experience with these knives please give me some tips and pointers. I have read online, I have watched YouTube to see how others are getting their CQC7B sharp but I cannot make it happen.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Try stropping on a leather belt.or on jeans.over a piece.of wood.....Should remove the burr....

I have a CQC-7BW (with the wave, which I didn't really want, but it was the only model available). No problem honing it to a hair-popping edge on a DMT fine )600 grit). To remove the burr, flip it over (flat side down) raise the back a tiny bit and very gently stroke forward. I suppose it's not a perfect chisel edge, but that doesn't seem to matter.

I set time aside and started over on this knife. After each grit I used I used a cardboard box to strop and it will shave hair now. Thank you for the advice. I have not stropped much in any of my sharpening in the past. I ordered a strop as soon as I finished sharpening today.
