Emerson Customer Service - Even in Canada

That is more than pathetic. Im sure it is an isolated incident, I would hope.
I do work for Canada often. Shipping is only like 13 for me to send a knife.
And that said. Ive gotten them for free in the past from emerson and other folks.
Most I ever spent was 12 dollars shipped for 3 CRK screws that I wanted as spares.
Best of luck. It looks like one of our buddies here has some screws to send you!

That's a shame. The pricing some people charge to Canada is ridiculous.
Either they don't want to do business with Canadians or they are just trying to make extra money where they can.
This is definitely more extreme than others...especially if they are willing to send a free catalogue? Where is the logic in that?

I feel like it's even more of a gamble and also even more shipping charges to return/exchange the knife.

This is why I always call first and ask the vendor to inspect and cherry pick knives for me. This is why I also only buy from reputable dealers such as can be found here on BFC.
If you honestly feel that returning the knife for an exchange is a gamble then perhaps you should find another vendor to do business with regardless of whether or not you ever buy another Emerson. I have had to return knives for exchange twice and both times the seller was always kind enough to credit my return shipping charges.

Eta: It may not be a comfort, but Emerson certainly isn't the only company to charge for replacement hardware.
Chris Reeve charged me nearly $10 for a new cord tie pin for my Sebenza.

CNC you are absolutly right. I have my top few dealers.
I would never hesitate to return a knife if there was an issue, they would jump at a request like that.

Keep in mind , that in house pin probably cost more to make and more time than all of the hardware on an Emerson knife.
The main issue is the cost of shipping to canada. Not a huge deal to pay for a part, but if they charge an extra 30$ just because, that is the issue I cannot understand.

Understood.
I am fairly certain that EKI uses UPS exclusively and it does cost more to ship with them. one reason I don't buy anything directly from Emerson is because they charge $14 or more for standard ground shipping which is a 7 - 10 day delivery.
All the more reason to contact the vendor and arrange an exchange.

Eta: even USPS costs nearly 4 times as much to ship to Canada. The last knife I sold on the exchange and shipped to Canada I charged an extra $20 and that still didn't cover the entire cost.

An update:

I exchanged a couple of emails with Emerson customer service and in the last one they said they'd send me a replacement screw :)

I would definitely like to thank gooeytek and RiverRat for their generous offers to send me some extra screws - much appreciated!

Last week I received new pivot parts along with the Emerson catalogue. The 7V is looking sharp now and I'm definitely pleased with the knife!
