Emerson karambit

I also have a Combat Karambit. It is ALWAYS in my pocket, and will stay there, never seen UNLESS it all goes south. Then with one pull it is out and open and ready for action. I also have a cqc7 spear point. I also have some VERY much more expensive blades, but if it goes south I will have two emersons on me (and maybe a few more blades). Right now I am looking for an emerson Fixed Karambit.

The intimidation factor of this blade is itself one of the better aspects. Folks will look at it and they have "Moved On" just from the way it looks and the thoughts of what it can do to the one it is pulled on. It is much better to be able to intimidate someone into NOT viewing you as a victim than to prove you are not one by force.

I am speaking of the Combat Karambit. A question though, is the handle of the Fixed blade the same size as the Combat folder or is it the size of the Super karambit?

I've had a Combat Karambit for years now. It has and continues to be my primary defensive knife. I emphatically trust that this knife will deploy with the wave and because of the finger hole, I will always have an extremely firm grip on her. I am fortunate enough to be able to carry a firearm, however, the Karambit is ALWAYS on me. I believe it to be the perfect self-defense knife. It deploys as fast as a fixed blade without taking up the real estate. I could write about this knife for days! I love mine and I can't praise it enough!

I have an Emerson BT, but the DLC coating is a bit worn. Can I send it back to Emerson to be refinished and sharpened, perhaps with a stonewash instead of DLC? If they charge a fee for this, do you know what it is?

Your best bet is to phone Emerson directly to ask those questions, Freewheeling.

Emerson will sharpen it, but they will not refinish it. Been there before.

(I believe a few exceptions are made in terms of customs, but never heard of them redoing a coated blade)

Emerson Karambit is my favorite self-defense knife. The only drawback is sharpening that is quite hard with the curved blade.

Not anticipating any huge problems. I have diamond and ceramic sticks and I gather that since you only need to sharpen one side it becomes pretty easy. Certainly easier than a curved V grind would be. I might have the blade stonewashed, though. It'll probably take the logo off, which is why I generally prefer stonewashed to black blades. I only have a couple of other black blades, and never use them.

Correction mine is the super karambit. I will pick up a combat version.

I thought it was just a matter of sizing to your hand? BTW, what does your lockup look like. Mine was manufactured in 2004 and appears to have had a lot of use and the lock is about centered on the blade tang if I wave it out of my pocket. This is much later than my other liner locks, but it might be normal for the Emerson Karambit.

Does anyone know if the handle of the Fixed Karambit is the same size as the Combat Karambit folder, or larger?
