Hey guys, I am sure it has been asked time and time again but...

I have my heart set on getting an Emerson Combat Karambit and I was hoping someone could point out the best place to buy a cheaper new one or a used one.

I thought about getting Fox Cutlery's 579/599 but after reading reviews, it sounds like I am better off spending the money and getting an Emerson.

I see on Armslist that someone is selling theirs but they have refused to ship it to me in VA.

Does anybody know if Emerson offers a LEO discount on their knives, and if so, how much of a discount that is?

I really want one, I just can't afford to spend MSRP.

If you can't buy new or find a used one in a local store, the only other place I'd go is the sale area here at BF. There are some good used ones out there. Sometimes you can find them below MSRP at a site too.

You'll be glad you got the Emerson. Love mine...has the pointy blade before they circumcised them a few years back.

Here is some advice.
Posting your threads in the correct section gets your questions answered much more accurately and quicker than dropping them "any old place". This is now in Feedback.
The bottom line is that Emerson knives are not cheap. Most are at or over the $200 mark. A specialty knife that is not produced widely is what drives the cost up. You can possibly find a deal, but YOU need to look around. Check pawn shops, gun shops, etc. having Champagne taste on a beer budget isn't going to work out for these things.

Back to the research. Have you called Emerson and asked your questions? They are the best place to go. Straight from the horse's mouth. If someone is not willing to sell to you, that means either you are too young, annoyed the seller by lowballing or being pushy, or they just got a bad vibe off you. I can't speak to how other places do things, but. I have rarely seen people denied a sale from out of the clear blue sky. Usually there is something else going on that someone neglects to mention.

Do some legwork, read, make phone calls, ask around locally at gun shops and such. If you are in VA there is no shortage of gun shops.
