It seems to me that people who enjoy Emerson knives have more fun. Lots of pics with favorite beer.. Whiskey... Food.... Work....

With its standard 154 cm steel and black g 10... Thick blade and imperfect finish the knives have some sort of imperfect perfection... It's the knife you don't have to worry about.

It is neat that people aren't buying for perfection... Status... New handle, lock, or steel... The ultimate in cutting performance.. Lightest weight.. Et cetra

I think my favorite thing about emerson knives Is the other people who like them... The Emerson area of the forums has a different vibe.
Just figured out how to (almost)put it into words and thought I would share.

Emerson knives and folks rock!

40+ modern folders. Only one Emerson a cqc7. Not more than I need and certainly not less than I'll ever need. It is just right.

Well said. "The knife you don't have to worry about". Thats exactly how I feel. Just use it.

Now you are starting to understand this "Emerson" thing ;-)

I agree. We don't take ourselves too seriously around here and although I have CRKs (nice knives too) and am a perfectionist, I also have three Emersons and love them for what they are.

TOOLS that I do not worry one iota about, unlike my CRKs. I just use my Emersons and that is priceless! No worries.

And the ergonomics are unsurpassed IMO.

Haters, close your eyes and do a test, you'll see!

And let me add this: I would not even consider a serrated blade or a Black blade but that has changed. A tool is a tool, as long as it's an Emerson.

I don't prefer a black blade because you'll see the wear and will not be able to get rid of it. Whereas the beautiful Emerson satin blade can be polished. It also plays tricks in the light along it's surface and is mesmerizing and just a pleasure to behold. But as a collector I would not be opposed to a black bladed Jungle Commander.

I prefer a partially serrated blade because it's like getting an extra option along with the plain blade. And I've definately used those dragons teeth. Plus, they just look bad ass. Although I don't have to have the partially serrated blade and I would take a plain bladed Emerson as long as it's 3.5" or greater because I simply cannot go less.

I have many idiosyncrasies along with an undiagnosed ocd disorder. When confronted I'll deny both conditions. Acknowledging may interfere with acquiring my next Emerson and newknif and I will have none of that.

It's funny, typically I go for uncoated plain edges...but when it comes to Emersons I actually prefer coated blades (and combos too)

P.S. I like whiskey and beer, too!

LoL. That's so funny, Emerson is the only knife I prefer with a blade coating also. The only other knife I bought with a coating is a Para2, and shortly after the purchase I bought a satin finish model. Haha

I like ESEE knives too, I own one of very model except the 5 & 6, and quickly stripped the Candiru, Izula 2, and Laser Strike for the same reason. I do like the worn look of my 3 and Junglas, so I haven't stripped them.

Thanks, guys. There's something for everyone. Thanks, Ernest.
Man, I swore my CQC7 would never leave my pocket. At least another Emerson bumped it. We'll see what I do when my HD7 gets back to me this week. I think I know.

I've been carringing my new CQC7 AW v grind for a couple of months and noticed that what ever needs cutting, I don't give it a second thought compared to my higher end knives. Just pull it out cut and back in the pocket, no checking the edge, finish or sweating whether I left any marks on the blade. Now I understand, I get it.
On a side note I would like a Super 7 as close to possible to the CQC7 AW without the serrations, and tanto tip with V grind, does such an animal exist, and if not what model would be the closest.

Makes perfect sense to me.
I gotta say, the main reason I am a fan is because of all the haters.
Read so many negative comments on the forum that rather than join the crowd, I decided to find out for myself and bought a Super Commander. I honestly feel that every reason folks have for criticizing is every reason I love them!

Rough around the edges; check
Tried and true materials; check
Function over finish; check

There is just something about the old school vibe that hooked me. I have Ti frame locks and CF scales and several different blade steels and I do enjoy them, but every time I reach in the safe I grab an Ernie.

You really have to hold one before it can truly and fully be appreciated. All I can say is that from the first second I held my Combat Karambit I had to have it. One of my all time favorite blades and one nasty little f*cker.

Well said. The Karambit and the Persian are two that intrigue me. I can see exactly where you're coming from with your post too. It makes me want to get hold of them even more.

Yup, Emerson knives rule. And i laugh at folks who complain about the chisel edge. They are easy to sharpen and come out stupid sharp!
