Emerson knife owners

I also love my cqc 7bw like others have said I just use it where with my Hinderer and CRK I still use them but not as hard and the best part about the Emerson as a first responder if I dull it I can sharpen the 154 on a coffee mug or the top edge of the ambulance window and get a good edge back. I initially started with a cqc 10 due to the utility style blade and after I received my Kershaw Emerson cqc7k I knew I had to have the real thing.

I had a biker chick customer in my shop today that had never heard of or seen an Emerson. I had her handle a half dozen of mine, and when she took hold of my M-Commander, the look on her face made me think I might have to sell it to her or fight her for it. Frankly, it looked really right in her hand.

Hahaha! That's awesome

You'll be hard pressed to find a hand that the Commander design does not fit. So who walked out with your Commander? We won't laugh.

I echo what CNCpro said in the fact that All the haters. I tried to understand. How could a company like EKI have all these people that sounded like they were all reading from the same "bitch sheet."

Something didn't make sense. I own two 7s. Love them both. Maybe I just got lucky but both of my knives are perfect and getting used everyday. Don't know when I'll be able to get another one but my next knife purchase will be an Emerson. Great knives.

If I could have every single model I would. They are that good and I've had enough to know I would never be disappointed with an EKI purchase. Emerson rocks!

Okay after carrying and using my CQC7 AW for a couple months it was apparent the chisel edge was harder to use for everyday cutting routines, the cuts were not strait and for food prep it was more obvious that the chisel bevel needed to be on the backside to accommodate me being a right hander. So I put a 30 degree edge on the backside, and for me this modification made my CQC 7 great for daily cutting chores. Gone is the one sided chisel edge and now it is a a double sided v edge. Actually after sharpening the backside, the V grind seems to accept the double sided v edge naturally, almost like it was intended to be there.

Here is a picture of both cutting edges. If what I did was blasphemy to Emerson community, sorry just modified it to my usage.

I did the same thing to my 7V. It worked fine before, and was actually very good when using it for flat-sided draw cuts, and the modification was more of an exercise in trying to improve aesthetics or quelling an OCD-like nagging.

Final Option and gooeytek - I have been thinking of sharpening the chisel side of my CQC 7A as well, curious as to what method you used? Any advice?

Very impressive job on the re-profile side.

I used a Wicked Edge to take it down to 15 degrees per side, then polished the edge bevels
On the paper wheels.

fwiw- I would have purchased a Spyderco Para Military as a straight cutter.
You took the Emerson out of the knife but nice job.

I did the same thing to my Journeyman also. Just because it doesn't have the chisel edge anymore, doesnt make it any less of an Emerson. If it makes you enjoy it even more, more power to you. I know I do.

Thanks for the compliments, I used my 2 X 72 belt grinder and free handed it with 120, 220, then 400 and stropped the final, edge. Lycosa I already have Hinderers, CRKs, and Spydes, just wanted my Emerson more functional for me. I've seen re grinds and lots of mods, they still are Emerson's and I just wanted it more functional for my intended purposes. I don't think I've taken the Emerson out of the knife.:)
