Dexter- Absolutely fantastic !!!
It's great to see ihe inner workings of a place like that, not to mention the knives !
Did you notice those 2 early fancy folders ?, they remind me of Elishewitz folders in a way.

That hawkbill folder is stunning !!!!
Now that would be an awesome production piece !!!!

Must go clean drool off shirt !!!!!

Dexter -

GREAT stuff! Wow, man - that DID look like a fun day! All those nice customs... :sigh:

Great photos Dexter. The ones that spoke to me were the 2 pre-tacs, the lock back, the dagger and the Caracci hawkbill, and the Timberline prototype. Man, Ernie has a better collection than any of the Suspects!

Dexter:

Great Photos! I appreciate seeing the photos and I have a much better understanding of how the shop operates after seeing the photos of the shop equipment.

Boy, did Ernie keep some of the good ones for himself or what? I want those two "pre-tacs", and the 6 with the abolone scales! Well, I want the Rhino, and that hawkbill, . . . oh well, I know you get the picture.

Ernie, if you have room bring those two pre-tacs with you to the Blade Show in June and I'll take them off your hands! Anyway, I would love to see them in person.

Jesus Dexter!!!

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures!

Do I see a paper article in the near future?

The knives that really spole to me would be:

  • *The Abalone scaled Full Dress CQC6 AWESOME!
    *The Handforged Damascus Commander!
    *The early, all black CQC6
    *The Carracci folder

If you blow the yellow scaled lockback all the way up, you see that it's one of the "Bowie" logoed folders. One of the first few knives he made for public sale. Ewww, to find that at a knife show.

Glad you all enjoyed the pics!

John - no article is coming out of that visit. They have invited me to come out to the facility for a visit and since I was going to be in the area visiting relatives, I figured that was the best time to do it. But if I ever have to do an article, I've got the pics already

Dexter, thanks for sharing pictures from your tour! Lots of cool stuff. Its like being there in person without the travel expense. I didn't know until today that I need a vertical milling center and laser cutter, but now I do

AWESOME! I am surprised at myself, but I actually like those aluminum handles. Probably just because they are different, but I do like them.

Dexter,
Two snaps up!
Absolutely fantastic job. You really have done a wonderful thing for all of us here at the Emerson Forum.
Leave it to one of the Usual Suspects to deliver this type of excellent coverage that none of the "industry" rags have ever done.
BTW, based on your observations is the Berger Grinder an automated CNC type of machine or is it a manual grinder?
Thanks again. You rock!

Thanks for your compliments, glad you enjoyed viewing the pics as much as I enjoyed taking them

As to you grinder question, I'm not really sure, but from what I saw they are automated but not CNC. Maybe Derek can answer this better than I can. One thing's for sure, the reason why Emerson has two Bergers is because one machine is set up to do the bevel on the right side of the blade, the other is set up to do the left.
