The finger hole looks larger on the Emerson and the hawk style blade is more radical with a more narrow point which is placed higher than the Perrin hawk style.

Anyone have experience with both?

Comments, pros and cons?

Handled an Emerson recently. Liked the concept immediatly. It's just a matter of time (and not very long) before I get one or the other.

Yeah I'm crazy, but what do you want me to do about it

Perrin makes a large variety of Griffes, out of differentially tempered carbon steel. Different blade shapes, some have scale handles, etc. The Emerson is a licensed copy of one of them, in stainless.

I have had both. The La Griffe by Emerson is a great value. Remember that Perrin makes several versions and Emerson only one. Trying to compare them is similar to comparing a custom knife to a manufactured version of the same knife. The same issues apply and the main one always being cost.
