Ernie Emerson believes it is a feature; Chris Reeve, not so much

As I mentioned before, there is un-written understanding that the lock itself needs to be isolated from any outside interference so it’ll do its job. Lots of old school guys as Terzuola, Emerson and so on prefer linerlocks because they are some how protected from the grip.
‘Of course, just as CR said - a properly made lock don’t need any enhancements and this is very true, but the big names will always have different opinions.
