Dear Members,

I would like to sincerely apologize to anyone and everyone who was affected, disappointed or let down by the cancellation of the Emerson Lottery at the 2016 BLADE Show.

What happened to me was every custom knifemakers worst nightmare. UPS lost our knives. Three packages were shipped in exactly the same size box, picked up at exactly the same time and addressed to exactly the same place, all 3-day select. Two boxes had stuff in them. Things for the show I could have easily replaced at Walmart. Those two boxes arrived precisely on time. The third package, the one with the knives? No one knows where that one is.

Today is going to be a long day of numerous phone calls, endless minutes/hours on hold (we spent 5 hours on the phone Friday evening with UPS) and a lot of different stories which to me sounds like a bunch of supervisors just trying to cover their rear end.

We had put a lot of time and effort into anticipating the biggest and best lottery ever and Murphy just stepped in and said no. All of us feel like we really let you down.

So, I hope we find them and I hope we get them back. They were insured. But that will be a whole other battle I’m sure.

It was a good show in spite of this matter but it sure could’ve been better.

Sincerely,

Ernest Emerson

Wow...that's awful. Hopefully they find them. I've seen a lot of companies removing their logo from packages because of the theft issue.

Best of luck in finding that package, we all feel for you Ernie, and hope it's resolved soon.

Hope all goes well and you get your knives back Mr E. May be too early to ask but what are the plans if/when they are returned ? Online auction?

If they were stolen I don't see the person getting away with it unless they are a private collector not going into detail about anything but yea.

I'm sorry to hear that. I really hope they show up back into your hands after all of your hard work for them.

What are the odds. Makes me think some sticky finger worker(s) at ups got it.

I have more confidence in the USPS than the other providers.

It was a shocker to be sure that all your custom work was lost, but, meeting you in person was worth the trip to Atlanta for me! You are such a nice dude and very generous and humble and it was such a pleasure to meet you in person. As I told you at the show, your knives were the start of my journey into what quality knives are all about and I'm proud to be carrying my first Emerson blade to this day, a 2000 Mach I. I've owned many Emerson blades and still own several others as well, but my Mach I is one that will stay with me forever (and my Titanium LaGriffe).

Anyways, while I was hoping to see some of your customs and possibly have a chance at buying one, I'm truly even more grateful for the opportunity to have met you face to face. I can't express that enough.

I can't imagine how disappointing that must have been. I hope the knives are recovered and if there was dishonesty involved, I hope the unjust are judged justly.

I've heard that the package has been found and is on its way back to Emerson. Heard this on the Emerson operators fb page

^good news.....and i have to take back my sticky finger ups workers theory. Nice to be wrong sometimes.

Now I wonder how they will be sold... It would be heartbreaking if they do their draw using the ECA membership method. Not everyone that wanted to participate is or wants to be an ECA member.

It would be "heartbreaking"? Calm yourself buddy. Nobody's dying over this ordeal.

And not everyone can make it to Blade. So......

And not everyone who went to Blade is apart of the collectors association. What's your point?

Open lottery to all.

My point is that if you were not a Blade, you did not have an chance to win and if they decide to do the lottery for ECA members, most still won't have a chance to win. Both groups are very small and did not afford an chance to win to everyone. And if I remember correctly, you have a thread on here running down EKI's service pretty hard so why would you even want a chance.

I searched his profile and looked up that thread. It was pretty bad and there didn't seem to be a resolution. EKI went out of their way to help him, but it looked like he couldn't help himself.
