Howdy!
(Sighs)

I know, more on my Emerson.....

So the other day I disassembled for a cleaning.
It surely needed it.
Reassembled, a couple drips of gun-lube in the pivot, adjusted for no bladeplay.
Simple stuff.

Well now the lock bar is sticking, and it didnt before.

And I already cleaned the locking faces, so there's no oil there.
AND I already sharpied the lock faces.

Still sticking!

And what baffles me, is that the stick increased dramatically when checking for horizontal bladeplay.

I bought the knife used, and its a 2011 model, so I'm definitely assuming the break-in would be done by now.

But on the other hand.... The blade hadn't been sharpened when I received it..

Hmmmm.....

temporary fix but i lve used a pencil on the lock bar. the graphite makes it go away for awhile...sometimes permanently. give it a try.

Graphite from a pencil or a sharpie should do the truck. I have noticed that all my Emersons like to run dry with no lube or oil because even though you don't add it to the lock face that stuff sure does love to travel.

I've seen lube and oil in the back of the handles close to the lanyard hole on new models.

Try the pencil or sharpie and if it stays around clean it again and run it dry

Already tried sharpie. Havent tried pencil. From what I read, sharpie works better, and that didn't do much.

Clean everything up again using denatured alcohol or paint grade acetone, then reassemble dry add a little pencil lead if needed.

I know a lot of people that use nail polish remover and many of them now have additives that act like a thin oil on hard surfaces.

The only time I can say I've seen an Emerson stick dry has been when something with the blade stop pin hasn't been seated right and there was a slight bind.

I would do the sharpie, let it dry and reapply a coat or two. When you disassemble do you completely remove every part or just the show side g10 and liner? What about the stop pin?

I've also had times that I rotated the stop pin around and have had different types of lock up with each turn or two or the stop pin. Not sure if it was bent or just thicker on one side. There's only one time I've had an issue I couldn't resolve with Emerson's sticky lock bar. I eventually just kept carrying it and it eventually went away. It was a 2005 model and this was a year or two ago, so there might still be hope for it. If not just send it back to EKI

Sometimes, when putting one back together you can change the geometry/lockup resulting in 'stick'. Mess with it more. I have lined up the scales/liners by micro amounts to great effect.

Somewhere there are steps listed to center an Emerson. These work on the older ones pretty well. Might try for this issue also.

I'm gonna take a look at the stop pin... Never thought of that

Even the slight difference in tolerances that result from disassembly can impact lock stick. I've had it cause lock stick (0560) and eliminate it (k2). Try doing it again with some of the suggestions above. A repeat break down of the 0560 eliminated the lock stick caused by the initial breakdown for no apparent reason.

Try tightening the pivot more. My Emerson roadhouse gets some lock stick if the pivot is on the loose side.
