I am doing a research paper for ELA on steel, specifically steel used in knives and tools. I sent Emerson Knives an e-mail asking about the steel they use and for the name of their supplier, (I also requested a catalog, but that's not the point.) Here is their reply.

Dear Mr. Warneck,

Thank you for contacting Emerson Knives, Inc. We will send a catalog right out. We use an American Made Steel 154 CM Steel. We do not give out our vendor information. You will find a lot of information is available online through Google.

Thank you,

Emerson Knives Customer Service

I knew that asking for the name of their supplier was a stretch, but I also thought that I wouldn't get an e-mail for a few days, let alone less than 12 hours. Again, Emerson knives has excellent customer service:thumbup:.

I think Ernie talked about using Crucible Steel in an interview (Starting at 20:46).

Crucible is the foundry yes. It isn't a secret by any means that they make a ton of steel for all kinds of industries though. Thatv particular question could have been answered quickly with a google search.

Thanks Sheepdogg. I couldn't figure out what company they used with a google search, but I may not have been using what a normal person searches.
