I frequent other websites and found it interesting to find out what other people do for a living/hobbies. On one of my off road websites I started talking to a gentlemen who had a similar vehicle but was a no sh** rocket scientist. It is pretty interesting to find out what similar interests people have. I imagine the member introduction is a way to do it but those come at irregular intervals so I thought I would start a thread.

Here is what I do: Active Army, Full time college student, volunteer EMT and Firefighter, Asst hunting guide, part time shooting instructor with various disciplines. As far as hobbies the sky is the limit: hunt, fish, off road, ham radio operator etc.

I'm a driller on a oil rig (Service Rig)here in Alberta. My job has me in the bush 27 days a month year round so a natural "hobby" for me would be survival. Other than work I have no life.:(...oh, yeah I have a wife and a little girl and thats why I do this.

I think this was covered in a previous thread somehow, but FWIW:

Former US Army Infantry; currently work in information technology designing & delivering software systems (technical lead/project architect); full-time father of 2 boys; very active in my fraternity.

Interesting thought, I'll play along.

I'm a preacher. Hobbies, hiking, shooting, reading, working with my hands. I'd like to try my hand at hunting but have not the money nor permits at the moment.

God bless,
Adam

Up until now I have worked various retail and computer repair jobs around Fort Worth. Here in a month or so I am moving to Denver to attend gunsmithing school. I cant wait to get started with it.

I don't have any degrees or a steady job, but I do a lot of free-lance stuff with computers for most of my money. Remote database administration; which is mostly just entering commands at my computer, but sometimes I'll have to write a program or script to take care of something. Then on the side I do a lot of local computer repair work for people, and buy/sell parts. I've practically got a home-run computer store a lot of the times.

I use to study in a trade-school machine shop too, but I decided that it wasn't really for me. Managed to get a couple of metal fabrication jobs because of it though; there was one welding shop that hired me because I could sharpen tool and drill bits and already knew how to weld. That was a sweet gig, because I spent most of my day sharpening while the other guys welded in the summer heat.

As far as what I get to use my knives for... I like to hike and camp, and I do like a lot of metal fabrication stuff even though I didn't necessarily want to be a machinist. I also like to play guitar and have written a lot of my own songs, use to perform here and there when I had an electric guitar and played thrash metal, but since then I've kind of found strumming chords up in the mountains much more enjoyable.

Almost half way through an Electrical Engineering degree... not sure if it's my cup of tea though. I'm unemployed 8 months of the year to concentrate on school, because 6-7 courses really doesn't leave me with much free time (although this forum doesn't help with my procrastination lol)

Summers usually entail me working at warehouses, home renos, painting,.... pretty much anything that I can get.

Thinking about switching to go study a trade though... we'll see what happens.

Graduated from Marshall University (Huntington, WV) in the late 80s. USAF Veteran (Desert Storm). After the military, I worked for the US Dept. of Justice for 8 years and then resigned in 2002 to stay at home with my two kids while my wife attended medical school and residency. She has her own medical practice and I stay home and play with my knives...:D

I collect military firearms (especially from WWI and WWII), enjoy shooting, hunting, fishing, reading, and heavy metal/hard rock concerts, bourbon, and craft beer (especially bourbon-aged stouts).

tarditi-That is awesome...Infantry/computer software architect. It is true what they say about an infantryman can do anything.

Thanks. If User Acceptance Testing doesn't go my way, I can always set up a hasty ambush... or resort to sentry take-down. :-)

I'm a second year electrical engineering student, but switching to mechanical engineering next semester.
As for hobbies, i used to play drums in a band, but we broke up due to "creative differences" also play the guitar and the upright bass, like to camp and hike although i haven't been able to do so recently because of the ridiculous amount of school work i've had to do. :(

I'm a college student finishing up my two year next quarter. I suppose the next step is to transfer to a 4 year after that.

I run a small ebay business that makes me more than enough for being in college. It's kinda nice to only work 1 hour a day when I did the whole part time job thing for 2 years

Currently considering putting college on pause and joining the air force, but we'll see what actually happens.

Former wall street broker, but now teach 9th and 10th grade world history in west harlem (third year teaching). Also working on a second masters in conservation psychology.

When I'm not in NYC, I'm up at our place in the Catskills to hike, camp, hunt and fly fish. This will be my first year bow hunting and I'm excited (have always used a rifle).

Project Manager for a major financial institution but currently on leave (to recover from job burn-out).

Staying home most of the time to play with knives :D

Hey TrailWolf where abouts in the catskills? I just moved back down from that way.

I hunt ninjas for a living. Track them down and using my amazing stealth and cunning, along with the highest tech, cutting edge tools, weapons and gear, I dispatch them before they can do their evil bidding.

That and I do pest control on the side, just to keep busy. Only so many ninjas ya know.

I work for ATF and specialize in tracing firearms involved in crimes. Unbelievable job security.
