Empty Box, Move Along

The money clip is plated. that is what the"P" stands for and also 14k gold would not have the spring action to keep shape in a money clip application. It is steel base, then plated.

I had a 14k P band I had engraved at a jeweler. The first gal I spoke to was of the opinion that the p was for plated and wanted to insure the ring accordingly. The manager overheard and hurried over and gave the word it really stands for [which currently escapes me] but the meaning was a level of purity of the gold.14k weight, with a high purity of gold used. It was promptly reappraised to the tune of $400. I'll see if I can't dig up some info and edit

Ah did the digging. The p is for plumb, which means exactly 14k not 13.5 which apparently is common. It was a few years ago so forgive my misinformation above.
