I was actually going to say just go to eBay and buy a box of 50 for $50 or whatever they are now. No reason to buy $15 shears. They get lost/borrowed/stolen/etc. Just throw them away when they get dull. Or, wait until the air medical crews stop for a visit. They usually bring us peanuts and shears. 
Oh, and I picked up a framelock leek to carry now. I just thought it looked cool, no real patient care use though. Keep pointy objects away from patients. (except IVs of course).
