End of the month deal for 7/31 -- Pix and Keshar Lal Villager Utility Knives

sweet. I'm planning on buying one ( just recently fell in love with these beautiful blades, but don't have enough money to drop on the expensive ones). Do you mind telling me about maintenance of these? Do these come with the chakmak and small knife? And does the handle need maintenance? Sorry I'm new to this

This model comes without karda/chakmak/sheath, but a fundraiser sheath can be ordered for $20 as described earlier in the thread. Also mentioned was the recommendation to initially apply lots of linseed oil to the handle (tung oil is good, too, among others). Re-apply oil to the handle as needed (maybe once or twice a year?), and use some mineral oil on the blade to prevent rust (food grade mineral oil is sold in pharmacies as a laxative).

Thanks for the oiling tip. Could I sharpen it like any other knife with typical tools?

Anyone get their new KLVUK yet?

Let's see some action shots!

Mine is still getting the handle treatment (multiple applications of raw flax oil). Here's a KLVUK action shot from a friend over at the axe forum. She was trying out a brand new Made-in-USA axe. The axe failed, while the KLVUK passed the same test with flying colors:

...Then for good measure I chopped down and limbed a third tree using only a kukri knife... The edge on this kukri was thinner than others I'd seen, but when put through the same treatment as the cruiser, it passed the test with flying colours, no damage whatsoever.

they come around , just keep eyes open, utility knives always a great buy, my favorite part is finishing the handle myself ( it comes rough grain)
