I couldn't find where Larry showed us the pic of the Camillus 'Gran'Pa', but I wanted to show all of you that didn't know about it, the original 'GrandFather' sharpfinger. It's number 8309 (limited edition of I assume 10,000)

Part of Schrade's 70th anniversary issue honoring 'Grand Dad's in 1974, I have some of the others. They bear the tang stamping; G.D.O.T. As this was 1974, something very interesting about this knife: The first Sharp Finger? (the name was spelled early on as two seperate words) 1974 is the year the model was first listed in the company catalog.

Above info from 3 excellent sources: BRLevines edition 4 (information was provided by our own UHfan), Robert Clemente's book (which book was dedicated in honor of our UHfan), and the IBCA guide to Commemorative Knives (fess up, Debbie... you did provide Mr. Voyles with his Schrade info, didn't you?). I point all of this out not to make our UHfan blush, nor to flirt with her (since becoming engaged, I keep my fascination with the lovely Maidens of Ellenville just an unrequited yearning), but to point out for not the first nor last time, what a wonderful reference- and person-- we have here. So comes the real reason for this post:

Let's have an online, end of year 'Hizzah' for Debbie. And another for our LT, who I also embarass a bit by calling: 'The Heart and Soul of this Forum'. He doesn't like that.. well, I'm easy to find. And I'll be hiding when he gets here.

And where has Steve gone? Probably working hard at a new job. He was another Schrade insider who joined us this year and added to our knowledge base. And where has his Dad been?

An extra special thanks to Spark. He's let us soldier on here with no moderator, the only sub forum here for a company that no longer exists. We owe him big time.

And a hearty end of year salute to all of us.... Uncle Henry's Lost Souls. We've kept the flame burning this past six months since Schrade closed it's doors, and we'll continue to do so. Knives... made of steel, can last forever. Names (Schrade, uncle Henry, Old timer) which are just spoken and written words, can also last for all time.

Wish all of you the best of a new year.

Phil
