Today I am offering nine pieces for your consideration, in 15N20 and AEB-L, all of which qualify for the promotional shop credit. For each additional item purchased after the first, in addition to any promotional credits, I will also be giving $15 off for combined shipping. Each item has been sharpened by hand and comes with its own sheath.

Spoiler: What is 15N20?

Still relatively little known and perhaps also underrated, 15N20 is a fine grained, high toughness carbon steel that is suitable to slicing applications and thin grinds on account of the edge stability its toughness affords it. A recent video from Dr. Larrin Thomas discussed 15N20's outstanding balance of wear resistance and toughness in the 61 RC range, which is now my preferred hardness for this unique and high value alloy.

Spoiler: What is AEB-L?

I believe by now AEB-L no longer needs an introduction with most people, but lest it feel less loved, I will say briefly that AEB-L is a fine grained alloy with high toughness and edge stability, and also stainless.

Is the "Smiling Fixed Handle Straight Razor" made for real shaving?

Yes it is. I finished it on Spyderco's white SM stones and stopped it on slack leather with compound. It is extremely sharp, sharper than probably anything else I have ever made. But my sharpening skills are those of a knife maker, not a barber or a person who shaves with a straight razor. So I would hone it yourself before shaving with it.

Normally I give $15 off per additional item for combined shipping, so if these five are purchased together to ship to the same location, they would normally be $----, but for today only, if anyone grabs all five of these, I will give $---- off per knife, that is, all five knives for $---- as a package deal. The thread will be closed tonight at 11:59 pm - or sooner. If they don't sell on the BFs exchange, I will sell them locally and/or through private correspondence (and not with the one time discount I'm offering today!).

All five of these knives will be very useful within their design scope, so if you have friends and family who like interesting and unique knives with the cutting performance of a custom, one way of looking at it is you can get ahead of the game as far as gift giving goes. Just a thought!
