Endura 1 VS 120 volts !!! Update !!! Knife repaired by spyderco !!!

Ok kinda pissed first time in 10 years I blew up a blade at work!! Think the sharpmaker can take it out ??? LOL !!! Any chance of sending it in to spyderco for a new blade?? It probably should be covered under warrenty right ?

I lost a screwdriver that way back in the day.

A buddy of mine lost a hammer to 440. Didn't use lock-out Tag-out and somebody energized the circuit. I saw him that night and eight hours after the event his eyes were still as big as saucers.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I've tangoed with 240 before. The door on the master switch was open just enough for the plug (stage pin) to fit through. I couldn't tell because it was at a funny angle. It brushed against the switch contacts. Ended up blowing the ground and one of the leads clean off while I was holding the cable. Certainly felt energized after that.

440 scares the crap out of me.

It's not the volts, it's the amps.

This is what some people are thinking right before they're killed by electricity. Something as common as 110v is enough to kill you given the correct conditions. There doesn't have to be a whole hell of a lot of amperage for it to happen either.

If you're melting metal, you can be sure there's plenty of amps.

Nicely done! Yet, not Darwin Awards material by a fair stretch... :D

I did the same thing at Ft Campbell with a REKAT Carnivore. Enough to straighten those pubes!

Ok now I know it's been almost a year since thus post but I sent this
Knife back to spyderco with another that needed repair just on a whim a few weeks ago, and guess who I got a call from with the good news that it CAN be fixed !!!!! I'll post pics of the re-serrated blade as soon as I get it back !!! I really didn't expect it to be repaired !!! Just another reason spyderco CS rocks !!!

I've got a Leatherman that had a bite taken out of it by 110v. I was pulling on the wires to and the teeth penetrated the coating.

Interesting. I try to buy brands that will replace blades, even for a fee, but it's nice to know that even Spyderco's repair service gets the job done sometimes.

Even if they did replace blades this is a gen1 endura and they probably don't have them any more , I'm just thrilled they can fix it !! :D

Havin' made quite a few of those in my 30 years as a mechanic I can tell ya this, be glad the path of least resistance was through the blade and not through your arms and heart.

Keep and use the trophy, it'll remind ya of how close to effin' up ya can get. :)

That amount of voltage/current wouldn't have killed him. You'd be surprised how bad it hurts though.

ETA: Assuming he's working on a regular old US 110v outlet. I've ridden the 110 many times.
