can someone please explain the differences to me between a 3rd and a 4th generation Endura. Thanks for the help.,,,VWB.

the 3rd generation one does not have steel liners, the handle is only plastic while endura4 is made with steel liners for added strength. endura3 has a finer tip, which is pointier while endura4 has a more "robust" tip to decrease the chance of the tip of the knife chipping or breaking. its a trade off. some people seem to like endura 3 cause its a bit lighter and has the finer tip while some prefer endura4 for the upgrades.

endura 4 is put together with screws while endura3 is made with pins that cannot be adjusted.

i think thats about it.

there is also the spyderco salt series which is an endura3 handle with a similar blade as the endura, but its made with h1 steel so its rustproof and harder than vg10 if its fully serrated.

One thing to add, you can change the clip to tip up or down on the E4.

To amplify a bit. 1st Generation Enduras and Delicas had one piece FRN handles with a molded FRN clip. 2nd Generation were the original all stainless ones, in AUS-6 and drilled for RH carry only. 3rd Gen were the FRN versions with the "barrel bolt" clip that allowed RH or LH tip up only carry. Those handles were still one piece construction, and are still being used on the Salt I, Tasman Salt, and Pacific Salt.

I also prefer the new texturing on the FRN handles of the Endura4 much more than that of the 3rd generation.....Lots more traction imho

Notching on spine of blade behind the hole and first third of scales on spine for the 4th gen. I love the 1st/2nd/3rd gen blade styles because I grew up with them, but the 4th gen blade style is a good move to improve durability and function. I think I will learn to love it just as much, with time.
