Has anyone ever convex-sharpened an Endura 4?

Just wondering what sort of results people might have got and whether the saber-grind blade is appropriate for convexing

Thanks & Merry Christmas

You can put a convex EDGE on just about anything including a hollow grind. You won't be able to start the curve "way" up on the blade if that is the question.

I wouldn't be trying to make the E4 a full convex, I was thinking more about convex from the edge, up to the start of the saber grind.

What you do in the bottom 1/16" is what really matters. I don't see any real advantage to doing anything beyond 1/8". However, my reference is with the D4 in ZDP not the E4 in VG-10. And I don't cut what you cut so, YMMV.

I did it to an E4/ZDP model and it cuts pretty slick. Far tougher than the the original factory edge and being ZDP, lasts forever. I prefer this kind of edge now over any other for overall pocket utility. It's extremely easy to maintain on a 1500-2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper or the SM (take your pick, both are easy). Didn't take long at all, and not difficult to do. You can get any kind of edge with it you'd prefer for the task at hand (biting toothy edge or extremely fine, polished edge), just depends on the paper grit you decide to finish with ... Give it a shot, you won't reget it!
