Just wondering what material is used for the pivot washers on the Endura 4 Wave. Also, how does the handle feel(I know it's FRN, but is it less icky than others?)

They look like Phosphor Bronze.

With the Bi-directional texturing, the FRN handles are very grippy, and solid with the full liners.

From Spyderco's website, "Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open..."
The FRN volcano grips feel better than the older FRN handles. I would say that they feel "less icky than others."

I just received one of these in a trade and am quite impressed with it. I do not neccessarily like the material, but it is grippy and the wave makes an excellent thumb rest. I was very pleased with it.

Thanks for the replies. Just one more question; I noticed the Endura is a lockback, and I was wondering what the back spacer material is. I know the locking bar will be steel, but what is the spring, and the part the spring sits in, made of? Also, has anyone had any up/down motion develop from blade tang hitting locking bar from repeated waving?

Here is a picture (from Mr. Blonde's post in the Spyderco.com's forums) of a Delica 4 taken apart to show you how it works. I believe the back spacer is made from FRN or some plastic.

Back spacer is FRN. That spring is strong too. I took mine apart and had a hell of a time getting the spring to cooperate with me.

For the money, it is amazing the construction and materials you get in the Endura 4 Wave. Mine has Phosphor Bronze Washers and the fit, finish and lock up is excellent. Crazy bargain for an awesome blade.

My Endura 4 Wave showed up today, and it's awesome! The handle looks cool and is plenty grippy, with no ickyness. The blade shape looks more utilitarian, so it should raise less eyebrows. The wave function is cool; not as good as on the Buck/Strider 889 I "tsunami" modded, but pretty good. Fits the pocket nice and everything. Looks like I have a new EDC rotation item.
