Endura 4s are discounted heavily now, so would you rather get the G10 or FRN ZDP189?

I bought a serrated ZDP-189 Endura and a G10 Endura and swapped the blades and lock bars. I also dyed the British racing green FRN handles black. I did the same thing a few months ago with the Delica. The G10 serrated ZDP Endura and Delica are probably my two favourite knives, and the FFG knives are great beaters.

Take care,

Stephen

swapped the blades and lock bars

Just curious - are the lock bars different and therefore require swappage? Are they "fitted" to the blade like the Military blade and locking liner seem to be fitted?

I inquire because I'm considering placing the scales from a G-10 FFG Endura onto an Endura SE, and having a G-10 SE.

thanks

All locks are fitted.

I've been pushing 2 knives hard on this forum for the last week or two. Not because I have any affiliations with either company but because I honestly believe that they are the two best value knives available for purchase at this exact moment in time.

We all have read lots of what I call "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda" threads where people endlessly bitch about what knives they could have bought if only x,y,or x.

Frankly, I'm sick of those threads, sure I could have owned the original full-sized Manix or BM AFCK or BM full-sized Skirmish if a million different things didn't get in my way. But the reality is that a million different things did get in my way, but NOW God is giving me a second chance to correct my mistakes by looking to the future and forgetting the past.
I have an opportunity to buy 2 killer HQ knives that I've always wanted but couldn't afford until now, the recently discontinued Ken Onion designed Kershaw Avalanche in full G10 and a stonewashed S30V blade for $45.95 NIB.
***Yes, you read that right. MSRP is around $140, but I got mine new, online for less than $50!

The other knife I've ALWAYS wanted and DROOLED over daily ever since I first laid eyes on it is the Spyderco Endura Foliage Green G-10 ~ C10G ~ in PlainEdge with a full flat ground VG-10 blade. I just bought one online this weekend for $66.99 including UPS Ground shipping and it's going to arrive tomorrow!
This is going to be one Merry Christmas and New Year for me! :)

Now's the time to act guys... there lots of ridiculous online sales out there this year so stop the "Could have and Should haves" and give yourself a memory you won't forget...a few new knives you could never afford before!

PS. Speaking of steals, I just saw a few new Spyderco CF Kiwi's for less than $65 online on eBay.

Several people on another forum recommended matching the lock bars and blades. Apparently the lock bar is made from the same steel as the blade. If you mismatched them, you'd risk uneven wear since one steel would be harder than the other. This could reduce the life of the knife. I found that the lock bars and blades were interchangeable, but based on what I've read, that doesn't seem like a good idea. I don't know much about knives, which is why I looked for advice in the first place.

Mine came in today. Heck of an Endura for $69.
In case you're wondering, the steel liners are skeletonized.

Does it come out of the box Tip-up or Tip-down carry? Wondering if I need to get my Torx drivers out...

If I felt like picking up another production knife, I'd buy 2 waved Enduras and 2 G10 Enduras, then swap the blades out. Sell or give away the leftover E4s.
