Endura - color me stupid--tether problems

I have a number of tethers and monkeyfists. The tethers have a paracord loop and the monkey fist have a paracord single end.

I cannot get the paracord thru the Endura hole.

What am i missing?

Do I sew the tether on with sewing thread?

I could put a key ring on and thats fits, but it looks terrible and more importantly it feels uncomfortable.

I know I am missing something easy but I really did spend about an hour poking my fingers and all in all feeling truely dumb and frustrated.

bend a paper clip into a small loop and yank the cord through with that?

I've done like DaveH and used a paper clip. I use fishing line most though. Thread the line through the hole, loop it around the paracord and thread it back through. Pull both stands of the fishing line back through and tie the lanyard.

You can also use the inner strands of the paracord to pull the loop through the lanyard hole.
