Endura G10 & Aqua Salt

very nice pictures cgm thanks!

That E4 is so appealing

Thanks. I tried sending you a private message but it's not allowed.

I don't remember if you have gotten one of these yet, but if you haven't I'd really encourage you to get one before they're all gone. The prices are unbelievably good right now.

I'm really impressed w/ mine. The quality and F&F is outstanding. I like the FRN Endura, but this G10 model feels like another knife entirely. It exudes quality. If you get one and don't like it I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble selling it.

I just unpacked my Aqua Salt. I like the feel and all - it seems great. But the sheath REALLY likes to hold onto the knife. It's so hard to get out that it hurts my hands. Is this normal? The paperwork says "The sheath has a leveraging thumb push-off point allowing you to safely position your hand and then push/release the knife from the sheath," but I just don't see that happening lol

Hmm, mine seems to work okay. There are two little molded on dots/bumbs inside the sheath that hold the knife in place. You can see and feel them just inside the lip. Mine seems to be very secure. I don't think it would come out by accident, but it's not excessively hard to release. I grab the knife in a normal grip and use my thumb along the top/spine of the handle to push the sheath away. Doesn't seem to be too hard.

Are there any rough edges or protrusions on the handle or sheath that might be catching on something?

No, no rough edges or anything like that. It's just really, really hard to deploy.

It works just fine if I push off with my thumb against the bottom of the sheath, but that's the wrong grip...

Should I try filing down the nipples or something?

I'd be hesitant to file them down yet. Maybe it just needs to be used some to loosen up. You might want to give Spyderco a call tomorrow and check with them.

THG, mine was like that for a little while when i first got it. After I had taken the knife in and out of the sheath for a while it became easier to deploy. Just give it time and it should "wear" a little so that the blade comes out fairly easy.

Haha, guess what? It's fine now :D

I guess it just took a little breaking-in. And now I am absolutely in love with this knife :)

Hey, glad it's working better. It's a great knife.

It is a great knife :D

I used it in my backyard to cut down some 5-foot-tall weeds and stuff. It was awesome to say the least haha

I'm liking the serrated edge a lot more than I thought I would, but it's definitely not as easy to sharpen :grumpy:

How are you trying to sharpen it? Do you have the Sharpmaker? The corners of the triangular rods do a good job of sharpening my serrated knives. In the dvd that comes w/ the Sharpmaker Sal demonstrates how to do it. IIRC it's 5 strokes on the serrated side then one stroke on the other side. Repeat as necessary.
