Endura II: Not too bad I hope?

I went ahead and bought an Endura II because I like the size and shape and look of the knife even though people really bad-mouth the AUS-6 steel.

Is it really that bad? Am I gonna regret this? The knife was only $47 and I find it hard to believe that Spyderco would make a real loser.

Someone re-assure me please.

i guess it's not really that bad. it will not give you the same service as another spyderco though. the aus6 is a definite step down in performance. i dislike it because of the blade steel and the steel handles. you can find other comparable size spydercos with better materials and near the same price. if you really like it, it's a decent choice, but you will be sharpening more often. let us know how you like it when you get it.

I have had mine for about two years now and I can tell you that I have used the heck out of mine and I cant believe how well it has held up. This knife if my hard use knife..NO mercy! If anyone needs to borrow one of my knives this is the one, I know it will come back the same way it left. I have sharpened it once or twice, not that it really needed it, just for practice really.

You made a good choice! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

99.9999999% of the people can't tell the difference between Spyderco steels under normal use.

Your knife is one of the most popular sellers. We have many in the ranks of the U.S. Border Patrol and they have been extremely pleased.

You'll be pleased too.

I lost my Delica II a couple of weeks ago.

I had it for a year or so and it held an edge pretty well. $47 is a good deal for Spyderco quality.

The full size feel/ heft is nice but yes, the slippery steel handles are less than ideal if doing work around an oily/ greasy and chemical environment. I would highly suggest either having a bead blast finish done or an appropriate checkering service performed. As for the AUS steel, well most of us take it to the stones frequently even though it may not be needed.

The use of AUS is a good compromise and helps to keep the Endura in its respective price range. Please contact: CHECKERMARX@compuserve.com
for fine checkering services.
