So I found a website selling two different enduras. one in aus-8 for $42 and another in something called g2 for $40. From what I can see both are put together with pins instead of screws. My question is do these sound like legit spydercos and not knockoffs and if they are legit which should I get the g2 or the aus-8? I tried to look up if spyderco made knives that look like this and I only could look back as far as an endura three so i thought Id ask the forum for some advice....dont want to end up with a clone if I can help it.

i have never heard of an aus 8 endura, but gin-2s are discontinued and hard to find. They have pins because they are most likely FRN handles.

That is about what the price was for those older versions of the Endura. G-2 is the oldest of the two you mentioned. Although we can't possibly verify the legitimacy based on the info provided, both models were offered and the prices seem reasonable. All enduras were pinned prior to the current model.

well i mean they both only around 40 bucks so I guess its not like I would be throwing away a fortune if I did get coned ill probably invest in one.....thanks guys.

It also doesnt have the spyderco bug on the blade which seems strange to me, but i know some models or runs dont have it

The bug on the blade is a recent addition, the older models didn't have it. The knives you are looking at date back to the early 90's.

cool thanks thats really helpful...i decided on getting the endura with the G2 just to try it out

I think the G2 or GIN 1 steel is better than AUS8. I would compare G2 to 440C and AUS8 to 440B.

Personally, I like it better than AUS8. Here's what Sal had to say about it in a recent thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6495806&postcount=2

The more I use my older Spydies, the better I like it.

P.S. G2 is also known as GIN-1 or Gingami I

Dude, you the man!! You're very knowledgeable and helpful.
Thank You.

How about Sal, is their anyone in this business who takes the time to answer these questions?
He’s one of a kind.
