Endura or Delica for EDC?

it's entirely personal preference. with both you get great cutting power in a lightweight package. Not many quality knives have the length of the endura, while being as easy to carry. but then again, not everyone feels the need for that much knife.

a year ago I would have said Delica, but since getting my Military I have found the extra length to come in very handy, so now would say Endura. if it were my choice.

I like carrying a longer blade for the simple reason that I often find myself using it in the kitchen where the Endura outshines the Delica. Otherwise I'd probably agree with the majority and say Delica. Using my Endura in public would really scare people so I sold mine. Nowadays I usually EDC a Victorinox Forester, Pioneer or Fallkniven U2 so I don't need to worry about reactions.

Ive got both the Delica and Endura in my gear drawer at work. After a longer period where ive carried them both, i found that i prefer the Delica.

Ive never felt a need for the Enduras bigger blade for regular cutting chores, only when using it for food, such as cutting a subway sandwich half over, etc.

I carried a delica for years and now I prefer the endura(much better for cutting up an apple or orange).

Delica. Ffg. Blue.

Haha that's the exact one I've been looking at :D

It's true I do cut a lot of food on the go with my knives, but seldom bigger than a flat sandwich or orange peel. I usually will have a kitchen knife handy for anything bigger.

If you can, hold each before you buy. I personally find the Delica just a hint too small to hold comfortably. And by "hint" I mean that I carry a Tasman Salt, which has identical handles (to the D3, at least), and because the hump over the hole is just the slightest bit different, I can hold the Tasman comfortably with my thumb against the jimping. The Delica is too small for me to hold, but that doesn't mean I find the knife itself too small to use. What I mean is, I don't think that it's not "enough" knife. The Calypso 3 has practically identical dimensions to the Delica and it's one of the most comfortable knives I've owned, and I've never felt "under-bladed".

Granted, I haven't held a Delica 4, so I can't comment on that.

But my recommendation remains the same: handle before you buy, if you can. The Delica might be too small for you. OTOH, the Endura is a huge jump in size. If you're used to a Delica, an Endura might feel like a machete. The in-between is the Stretch. You can find partially serrated Stretches for dirt cheap on ebay, but plain edge ones with be about $30-40 more than an Endura or Delica.

Yeah i'd start out with the delica. It's a great size blade, and will be able to handle all of the tasks that the endura can do but with less blade length to have to resharpen when you get it dull.

If you can find one, the G10 Delica also is worth considering, although that is a different price range.

I'd go with the endura, it isn't ALL that much bigger, but u do get alot more blade and it isn't much heavier either... a longer blade is always good to have so ur not limited...
