Endura or Griptilian

I own two grips one regular and one tanto ,I carry them quite often .I also have two Enduras one combo green and one brown ffg and I carry the green endura for work alot as I find it easy to sharpen and the handle just seems to slip into the most comfortable grips when cutting. I would just wait to get the grip ,put a few dollars in a jar and before you know it you will have enough to get on off the exchange and then you can carry them both if you want;) The main differences are handle size both length and thickness and also blade shape .I find the Endura to be more versatile but the Grip is a great knife and more fun to play with.

I agree with what most have already said. I own 2 Endura's (1st gen CE & Endura4 PE Waved) I also had a Mini Grip PE . I traded the Mini grip. I pack my Endura4 5 out of 7 days a week:thumbup: It holds a great edge & is pretty easy to re-sharpen. The handle is thin enough to ride very comfortable in the pocket but still fits my hands good ! The Benchmade is very Smooth to open, a little more smooth than the Endura & the Benchmade is a great knife but if I could only pack one it would be the Endura ;)
Save up for the Grip!

Keep the Endura until you can save up enough for a Griptilian and a set of custom scales. The scales will likely cost as much as, or more than, the knife does. . . but it will be sooooooooooo worth it in the end.

I have carried an Endura off and on for the last dozen years, so I have a healthy love and respect for the model. However, the 550HG blade with the axis lock and a set of custom scales really blows the doors off of the Endura in my book.

Of course, that's all just my opinion, your mileage may vary, and I urge you to stick with what you like. They are both very very very good knives, otherwise you wouldn't be so torn up about the decision.

Above all I urge you to save your pennies and get what you really have your heart set on. It's like I always say, "Buy it nice, or buy it twice."

I own several Griptilians and two Enduras. I prefer the Griptilian range, as I prefer thumb studs, the Axis Lock and the greater variety of steels.
However, if I am going to carry a Griptilian/Endura-sized folder it is usually a Benchmade 710 or 950 Rift.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question. I am going to sell my Endura on ebay for $50, if your interested my username is nairb_trebor. I am going to buy a 551 griptilian when i get the money. Thanks again, ill keep everyone posted.

Have an orange Ritter Grip which I really like; have an Endura around somehere; never have carried it; perhaps I'll dig it out but the grip is a grip is a grip!

I think the Endura is a better knife overall. The only thing I don't like about it compared to the Grip is the handle. It's not bad at all, though. The funny thing is, I don't especially like the Grip's handle, either. It's got a good shape, but for my hands, it's a bit too thick to hold onto comfortably.

And I'm not sure if the Grip has a thinner edge compared to the FFG Endura, which is what you should be getting if you're getting an Endura anyway ;)

I bought a ZDP-189 Endure, opened the box, handled the knife, put it back into the box and returned it. I didn't like the feel of the handle or the blade proportion. I just couldn't warm up to the Endura.

On the other hand, I have four Grips and two Ritter Grips, all of which please me very much. Now, I have around forty-five Spyderco knives, so it is not about the brand, just the particular knife.

I would suggest doing what feels right in your heart. If it was me I save up for the grip buy it and then see which I like best. Then the one you like least sell it. Good luck

Might wanna edit that out, my friend, deal spotting is a no-no.

I have 4 enduras, only one grip.

Grip's a good knife, but Spyderco's VG10 has held a much better edge for me than BMs 154CM.

The Endura's lock is plenty strong.

If you have the FFG E4 then the Griptillian does not have a better cutting edge.

The E4 is definitely the better value.

Get the Grip when you can, but keep the Endura. The Endura is a great knife, I've had a couple. I have a Ritter Grip right now, but take a look at the 550 sheepsfoot and the 551 drop point. I am looking for an older 550, they were great folders.

I was recently had the same problem, I have owned a grip before and loved it till i lost it.. so this time i went for the endura, from what most others are saying, I hope I will like the endura better, New Graham I thought was great priced and got it to my house in 3 days. Another plus is I went with the emerson wave feature, as far as I know BM doesnt offer that.
