Endura or Mini-Grip?

I'm kicking around another purchase for a 3" or shorter knife. The leaders are probably a mini-grip (ritter?) and an Endura. This is for EDC and for hiking.

Can I get your thoughts?

I think you mean the delica, the endura is closer to 4 inches.

I am personally a spyderco man, but there are so many great reviews on both products that you will not go wroing with either.

My advice is that you visit your local dealer and play around with each knife, it will help u decide what suits you.

Own both, like both.

If forced to choose, I'd pick the mini-grip, but either one is a great knife for the price.

Mini Grip I've carried mine for the last 3 years and can't find a reason to retire it.

I am a Spyderco fan but own a Mini Griptillian and love it. I vote for the mini grip. Wish I could link you to a video clip with a guy digging a hole with a griptillian and a dog next to him digging right along with him. Anyway digger with G full of dirt just washes it off in the stream and shakes it out opens and closes no problem and keeps on digging.

There is very little better than a mini grip and nothing at the price. I prefer the older flat ground style over the new hollow grind but either way it's a good knife.

Have both, have carried both, love both.

If I had to decide......I don't know. I love the blade shape of the Grip, as I do all of Mel Pardue's, but I really like how slim the Delica is. Axis locks are great, spydie hole is really nice too.

....final verdict, get both:thumbup:

But if you only get one, get the mini Grip.

Both are great knives. However, the Mini Grip's handle is too short IMO - no room for my pinky. BM should redesign it with a handle that allows a full grip.

Both are great... buuuuut, I like the Delica more. It is hard to say exactly what but to me the Delica feels a lot better.

For those of you who love the mini-grip, do you prefer the ritter version or the regular one? I don't like the drop point version. The sheepsfoot is more to my liking, but the ritter is nice-looking, too. The difference in steel is, what, s30v versus 154cm. That doesn't seem a big deal to me. And the regular one is below half the price of the ritter.

Hmmm?

I love my mini-grip. It doesn't scream to be used, or "Look at Me!" the way some of my other knives have, but it works so well and is so comfortable, it really doesn't matter.

I'd "vote" for the Mini-Grip, but the Spyderco Native is also one to take a good look at, as are a couple of the smaller Kershaw folders.

I think they're both great knives, but personally, I think the Spyderco knives carry better.

I have several of each. It's almost a coin-toss. Truly, there is no wrong choice between the two. Try each in your hand and see which you prefer.

Just to throw a wrench in the works, check out the up and coming Kershaw OD-1. It should be out in September. Frame lock, G-10, under 3". It also has a flipper. I'm standing by with money in hand for one.

That being said, I carry a mini-grip every day at work (coast guard). It gets a lot of hard work it wasn't designed to do. It's opened paint cans and beer bottles, cut every line you can imagine, both clean and loged with salt and sand. The thing never complains, just keeps going. Mine has the "spydie" hole, which I got only because the stud version was out, but I'm glad I did. Much easier to open with gloves on.
