Endura or Mini-Grip?

The OD-1 is nice, but not for me. I do have the Native already in s30v. Maybe I'll just get a VG-10 version and call it a day?? I've heard such great things about the AXIS lock that make me want to try it out. The Ritter mini has great lines, and I can get a matching one for my wife. The Delica is nice, too, but to me isn't as attractive a knife.

Axis is about like having a fixed blade in your hand, but it's a folder. I love my Native and my yellow handled mini, but if I just had one, I'd prolly have the mini grip.

Both excellent knives. The grip is a smoother operator, it opens with a simple flick of the thumbstud, or Axis flip. The Delica is slimmer in profile, and carries a little easier. VG-10 and 154cm are a close tie in my book, in terms of edge retention and other factors. Just get both, like me!

The Native III is a fantastic knife and I love mine! If you really like your S30V Native, do consider trying the Native III. I can't think of anything the Mini-Grip can do that the Natives can't. That said, if you've got your heart set on a Mini-Grip, go for the Ritter. I feel it has a better blade shape, and it'd give you more variety to go along with your Native (the regular Mini-Grip has a thumb-hole and hollow-ground blade just like the Native). Good luck!

Good Question

couple of months ago I had the same questions - was thinking of upgrading the quality of my folders

Bought the the
- Ritter Mini Grip, and the Delica
- Ritter Grip, and the Endura

All good knives

For the smaller - The Mini Grip by far!
For the larger - I'd be tossing up between

The minigrip is far slicker in opening and closing, great lock, and a good blade profile and shape.... and only marginally thicker than the delica. To me it is a clear winner and the one in my pocket around the house and in the country.

For the larger size - the handle on the full size grip is not as good to me and quite thick for a Jeans front pocket. The endura profile whils not having the same belly in the blade is still a good pragmatic blade and is much slimmer

As for steels - I have not used them hard as yet - but they are all clearly good S30v VG10 154CM

You could do the same and as previously suggested buy them all - if only one then the mini grip, prefferably ritter

I am hoping to find an equivalent of the full size grip with full skeleton and flat scales, non tactical look - and an axis lock

That Ritter has a lot of fans!

I know what you mean. I've looked high and low for a full grip, full liner, flat scales, non-tactical knife with an Axis lock in a decent steel. Something without a hollow grind, and maybe in a drop point. That's all I want, too. And a smaller version for urban carry. And I don't care if it's purple!!

So, after much sleeping on it, I think I'll get matching mini's for me and the wife...and if I can find them without a hollow grind, all the better. And then I'll wait for the rumored Sage with a ball-lock. That will probably be the cat's meow!!

Go for the Delica 4. One of the best knives out there. The Mini-Grip is nice too but I really miss the standard 555 that had the oval hole. I hate the hollow ground ones now that are the 555HG. I just don't care for the 556 as I don't like the blade shape. :)

The grips are very nice knives regardless.

I have a Cabela Mini Grip and a D4 wave. Love them both and carry both often.

Mini-Grip has the axis lock, a good blade to handle ratio and has a very comfortable grip in the hand. It is just all around an excellent small EDC that can easily do larger jobs. I highly recommend the Cabela's or the Ritter (have a fullsized Ritter, it's awesome).

Delica 4 is a Spyderco classic. The one thing I really want to stress on this knife is how surprisingly big the handle is. The blade is short, but you get a really *really* nice big grip on this knife (albeit with my average sized hands). Spyderco's lockbacks are also excellent (I still prefer BM axis tho). I carry this knife a lot and have really enjoyed the VG-10 :)

Both are solid in every aspect :)

The other thing I really like about the Delica is that it carries easier in the pocket than the Mini-Grip, which to me always felt like it was trying to hog up my pocket. It also causes much less wear on the seams of your pockets because the clip is better designed IMHO.

The Delia is much thiner and easier to carry in your pocket. The Mini-Grip has a thicker handle (in size). Some peope like the thicker handle when using the knife but it is a little bulkier in the pocket. Both are great small folders for the price.

How's the hollow grind versus the older version?

It's a pocket razor. Seriously, I was AMAZED at how sharp the hollow grind seems compared to the standard Mini Grip.

Just be careful if you buy more than one Mini Grip. Pretty soon you'll have four, then eight... Sure, they're all the same knife, but then there are different handle colors, and blade shapes, and...

I haven't used the Delica, but I can vouch for the quality of design and build in Spydercos from the Caly 3. Plus, the Spyderhole is something everyone should try at least once.

SPYDERCO DELICA  easy on the pocket, spyder hole makes open it with gloves or onehand very easy, Very durable knife !

You guys are great! I'm actually looking to score the older mini-grip with the hole if I go with Benchmade. It has the spydie-style hole, but with the Axis lock.

I have a Native and so I know that the spydie hole is addicting! The more I use it, the more I like it.

Can't get just one? Must be why I'm looking at both a pink one for my wife and a blue one for me. She doesn't know it yet, but I did show the pictures. She likes the sheepsfoot style over the drop point, just like I do.

**So, the hollow grind is to be preferred to the older style?**

I prefer the round-holed, hollow ground 555-HG to the older oval-holed, sabre ground 555 that I used to own.

..but still prefer the thumb studded, drop point 556 model to both of them.
