I have found that the judicious application of grey 3M stair tread tape adds the necessary traction to a SS Spyder handle, as good as that on a FRN handle, while retaining the heft, visual appeal, and the smooth opening.
The tape is cheap enough to experiment with various shapes; patches, blobs, wiggly worms, etc. It applies easily and removes with a good tug--yet it stays in place firmly. I've had the stuff on some of my SS Spydies for a couple of years with no sign of losing its adhesion.
There's also the engraving option. If done with sufficient relief, the carving adds a great deal of traction to the (formerly) smooth stainless steel. But it's a lot more expensive than the 3M tape.
