Are these still in production? I was going to get a regular Endura 3 or 4, but decided to go for the ZDP189 model. Mainly for use when hiking in the area, and for IWB carry. My Ritter Grip is too bulky, my Military is too big, my SNG and Seb could go the way of the dodo where I hike:o. Not that I want to lose this one, the slim design is a deal breaker for this type of excercise.

as far as i know...it wasnt listed in the upcoming discontinued knife list and they are still in production.

Sweet knife just got mine from GPknives actually i bought a pair one PE one SE I highly recommend them

Boy the Ritter Grip and Military are 2 of my favorite outdoors knives but I love my E4 ZDP just as much ... it's just got a feel about it that's hard to pin down. But I digress ... yes this knife is still very much available and is a terrific blade steel/knife combination for your use as well. I bought one in both PE and SE and still have a tough time deciding which one I want to use on a days outing. One things for sure though, I always pare it with a D4 in ZDP also in the other pocket for those smaller challenges needing a saber sharp blade.

Good Luck.

I love my 2 Endura ZDP-189's. Both full serrated.

Bought 3 of the PE, at different times, from different dealers.
They just didn't have the edge right out of the box that I've come to expect from Spyderco.

I might try yet again, but so far I like the PE better in VG-10.

But the ZDP-189 full serrated is a monster cutter, wow.
I carry one pretty much every day.

Hi Hunter,

They're in regular production. The difficulty is in geting ZDP. Hitachi only makes the steel on special order and when they make it depends on their schedule. We've recently placed a standing order for ZDP as we plan to continue the endura and Delica as well as add additional models.

The new stretch2 in ZDP is a nice compromise in size and weight, and still has very high performance, but the price is pretty dear.

Ive got the 50/50 edge Endura 4, which the only problem I have with mine is that it stains really easy.

It already has a overall patina over the entire blade which I can NOT remove with polishing paste or anything else I've tried, the blade is now a blah dull look.

So it may not have a nice finish compared to other steels, but it does cut well!:)
