I mean, I said this in some other thread, but I use my marlin spike most often on canoe trips to help undo tight knots. I don't think canoeing is far fetched for scouts. So, maybe similar reasons?

I found (for pennies) this diminutive Girl Guide marlin spike knife yesterday!! It seems well made - I put it on a stone to straighten a raggedy edge!! The GG is 3 1/4", the Schrade with it, is 4 1/4"!!!
The GG is stamped BUKTA which Goins dates from 1920 to 1940; if anyone knows more, please post!!
