My first engraved 110...in fact, first engraved anything. Went to a gunshow today, a dealer I know said that he had a Buck he wanted to show me. This was it:D. It is a two dot, been carried and will be again.

Not ever having had one I'm at a loss as to how to clean it so I get the cuts cleaned up...any suggestions are welcome and will be appreciated. Preston

Hey Mr. P., don't have anything cool like what you got there, but I have used a pipe cleaner and some simi-chrome on engraved stuff before. I then take a wood toothpick to get in the crevices and scrape out any residue.
Your mileage may vary.
Goose.

PS, to save ya trouble, send it to me and I'll take care of it. It may take a while though ;)

...and a rifle cleaning toothbrush...or any toothbrush...(the rifle-cleaning ones are cleaner-proof)... :D

BTW, knice knife...

That engraving gig is impressive. Kine like tattoo work...you screw up once, you screw up bad.

Wow....very nice Preston. I'm with trax, use a tooth brush. I clean the black power residue off my Hawken's brass parts with a soft bristle tooth brush and simple green cleaner and water solution, then dry it with a soft cloth. The brass hasn't scratched or tarnished. Just my two cents worth of bla bla bla....Nice knife what did it set you back? An arm or a leg?

jb4570, thanks for the compliment...I have dealt with this dealer quite a bit in the last several years. One of our first deals he really did get the best of me as I traded many good knives for several of his good knives. I don't regret the trade but I kinda think he does and believe he has tried to make up for it. I have gotten several good deals from him and on this one he called me. He asked $50.00 and I wrote the check without haggling:D. Preston

Great price Preston, I paid more than double that just for the engraving on one of mine.

Preston...
IMHO, that is a very decent price for a nicely engraved NS that looks cared for.
Goose.

Alright Preston! As they said in the movie Dance's with wolves "good deal, eh" Now as I said when I saw your new addition NICE KNIFE and you can't beat the price. To say I'm not jealous would be a lie; I am green with envy.

Thanks all, I'm pleased with it. As I said it has been carried and used, and I will be doing the same.

Goose...NS???...sorry:o, it's brass. Must be something that I'm doing with the camera. Here's another pic, different settings and background. Not sure that I would keep this pic as the reflections seem to confuse the detail on the bolsters...but I think you can tell that they're brass Preston

Hey that is a nice pic!
I was wondering last night what you had to clean the engraving for if it was nickel. Thanks for the clarification.
I'm thinking it would look cool with the contrast of the lines being tarnished a bit.
BTW, you spilled something...

Nickel tarnishes just as easily as brass...unless it's waxed... :D

I think I'm going to repackage Turtle Wax as "Chicken Trax Knife Wax" and start selling it at gun shows... ;) :D

Those are some pretty heavy SWCs...Long barreled S&W N-frame .357, I'm thinking...possibly nickel plated...(like the one in my safe!)... :D

Guess I haven't had one long enuf to see that.

Clean one off real good; put a big old sweaty/salty fingerprint on it; and leave it out in the open air...

In fact, do one of each...Nickel and brass...make a project out of it...and report back in about ten days... :D

Trax, they're 158gr SWC for my S & W Mod 37-2, J frame .38 Spc +P...my first. If you want to see pic I posted in the Gallery, under thread called Guns and Knives(or versa/vice), which is where the idea came from. I like blued revos. My next one will be .357 3-4", but will shoot mainly .38s in her. Preston

Preston - I have a Model 27-5, .357 N-Frame, 8 3/8" bbl, Nickel w/Goncolo Alves grips...Re-chambered to .357/.44 (a bottleneck cartridge based on the .44 Mag) and handloaded with .357 FMJ's [or whatever I have on hand] in the .44 bottleneck case (made by running .44 mags through a .357 Automag reloading die [RCBS]).

Clymer ground the chambering reamer for me. I did the rechambering [re-cylindering?] on my Bridgeport, back when I was crazy about handloading. Did two of them; one a blued 4" bbl N-Frame, and my Nickel 8 3/8".

The fireball is really awesome... :D

Lemme see if I can scan one of the shells...

Back to the engraving...It is a nice knife... :D

Trax, I'll bet that the ballistics on that combo are awesome, also:eek:. Will it fit on the scanner???? I'd love to see it. Preston

I will do that after my current experiment of the penny in a glass of coca cola.
Goose.
