Just wondering if anyone here does this and perhaps share why? Lets see some pics :D and bonus points go to non initial engraving's .

This is a curious topic, however, i dont have any engraved-shield knives; i do have some scrimshawed knives but no shields per se. Looking forward to what comes up.
I think Tlarb will win, he has his name written on one :D

I had my nickname ... "Scooter" engraved upside down (relative to the coventional way that most shields are engraved by the makers) on my "all-time" favorite EDC. This is the only knife I've ever had engraved - the only one that is never going to be sold or traded as the mood strikes me. It's got my name on it and that is what makes it a personal effect rather than just a tool or collectible. I've asked my wife to bury it with me when I eventually end up in Davey Jones Locker - I suspect that my son will intercede and I'll go to my briney rest with a Rough Rider or Chinese "Buck" folder. :D

Steve Dunn M.S., learned to engrave and two years later he was teaching engraving.

Here is one that Nathan Dickinson engraved and added a splash of gold. You can see how Jim Cooper picture brought out the gold in the shield. Mine not so much!
I know that John LLoyd and Keith Johnson knives occasionally will have the shields engraved(among others).

The only one I have is a plain Queen Cutlery QCCC engraved shield. Can't really say I like engraved shields or bolsters too much though. Great skill for sure but not my taste.

That is a beauty, Ken! The engraving is the icing on the cake.

I wouldn't sweat your photography skills much. You just keep making knives like you do and there will be pleanty of people willing to take the pictures. I don't think I've ever seen a knife you made that I didn't like and I can't think of another maker I can say that about.

I've seen a couple of Bill Ruple's with engraved shields.sorry no pic's though.

That's an awesome knife, just needs "TLAR" engraved on the shield....

I think the ones that Keith did for me are stamped, not engraved.

I had this done at least 20 years ago at a gun & knife show. A guy there had a booth and was sharpening knives for a small fee. He noticed the blank shield and offered to engrave it. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I don't regret it, but doubt I'd do another unless it was a gift to someone important to me.
