I have made three filleting knives for a fella who works with my wife. His intention was to engrave his buddies nick names on each of their respective handles. (The handels are made of black/green/pistachio and blue/black G-10.) He took them to an engraver who told him that it can not be done. My question is; is there not a way to burn/engrave this type of material? Is there any type of computer type engraving out there that anyone is aware of? Can somebody offer any advice? :)Thank you folks. - Kevin.

I engrave the owners name and any other info desired on the blade with a pantograph engraver ( diamond tipped stylus).
The handles might be able to be laser engraved, but it would be costly, and the results might be poor. The engraved blade spine is the way to go looks wise. You have your choice of size, font, and placement. A jeweler or engraving place should charge you $10-20 a blade, max.

If you put your makers mark on with an etcher why not make a stencil with their nick names and etch them right onto the blade? Burned G-10 which is fiberglass based would not give good results.

Laser would work pretty good. I had a some knives laser engraved a few years ago and I think I paid $25 each to have it done.
