THE ZT0200
I'm a guy who likes Big, Tough, Unbreakable knives, so I decided to review these two very different folders, and came to some VERY surprising conclusions! Stay tuned yall, hopefully yall will agree and see eye to eye with me.
I've had my Zero Tolerance for about a year, my boyfriend gave it to me for an anniversary present, isnt he sweet? It's a plain-edged version. I believe it cost him around 130 dollars; I didn't ask, you know they get all touchy with that sort of thing
First off, this thing is solid!
It weighs nearly half a pound! The thick blade of 154CM, full steel liners and sculpted G10 account for this and give off an aura of superb quality. I don't think I'll be breaking this one anytime soon.
Anyways, this weight and size also makes it somewhat of a pain to carry. In my skinny jeans it was sooooo impossible and I resorted to clipping it into an outside pocket on my murse. My boyfriend likes to joke "is that a knife in your pocket or..." when we'd hit the clubs, and it was kind of embarrassing tbh.
It holds an edge nicely, but it's not a good slicer. That's not what it's built for. I manage to sharpen it on a flat stone, and the edge angle must be in excess of 40 degrees inclusive.
The massive pivot nut screams "pry with me!" and I admit .sometimes I have found it SO difficult to resist... so far I have been able to, however. [align=center]

The coating has held up extremely well, I expected it to wear off like other REDUCTIVE knives, not going to mention any names
But it's kept it's blackness.
I absotively posilutely prefer using the thumbstuds to open this knife. The detent on mine is OK, but not super strong like I like 'em
. I'd prefer a stronger detent to allow energy to build up when you press on the flipper so it snaps out faster when it trips the detent.
However with the thumbstuds it seems faster than the flipper. The flipper also provides some protection from it accidentally closing on your hand, we all know what happens then.
Ive toted this knife as my (not ideal) EDC for a few months now and I lahhhhhve it. I say "not ideal" because I would be better served by a smaller, slimmer, lighter slicer... but I just love this big blade, what a boss.
THE ENLAN EL-01
Now, for the Enlan EL-01: I bought this knife off Ebay for under $17 with shipping, such a steal, no? It was originally a present for my ex (we keep in touch, my BF is fine with it, but thats what he says but you know they never really trust you when you trust them but whatevs, end of rant) but then he sent me a couple texts insulting me (accusing me of things that should never be repeated, its heartbreaking really </3) so I decided to keep it... we're good now though
Anyways, fit and finish is good for the 11 dollars I paid for the knife itself <3 !
Those Chinese must have a lot of kids being paid minimal wages to keep prices this low, jk jk yall have to know I play around like that. Anyways, what was I going to say? Oh yeah lol nvm I remember now.
The G10 is not the same quality as the ZT . It's... I guess, lower class? Rattier? It's very nice for the price range though, which is fine by me, a steal really omg! It gives decent grip as well, again not as much as the ZT, but I feel this might make it better for extended use. I don't like the current trend of super grippy knives - handle shape should be paramount.
The Enlan is slightly smaller than the ZT boo! It's also much lighter, YAY! It rides better in the pocket and holds an edge better. This is my first experience with 8Cr13MoV, and it's very nice, I have to admit lol. It seems easier to sharpen than my Spyderco Police 3, yet holds an EDGE slightly better than my Manix2, ZT0200 or the Police itself, which I LOVE! I do most of my cutting on cardboard as well as on soft woods, and nylon rope.
The lock feels substantial; I can't tell which knife would be stronger tho :/ The thickness of the liner isn't a great indicator - look at the Spyderco Military. My Millie has been going strong for over 4 years, could you believe it, 4 YEARS!! and the liner is not very thick at all. The liners on both these knives are super thick though!
The blade shape is also much superior to the ZT. I don't think the recurve helps out a great deal with cutting, at least not in my experience, anyone have a different experience theyd like to share? I mean help me out people, Im only human! It appears to be a "looks" thing, and makes it a PITA to sharpen. Not that I don't like a PITA every now and then.
The Enlan also slices much better that the ZT, and has a sharper point.
The pivot on the Enlan is SO annoying, since you need some kind of tool to adjust it. Same for every pivot tho, only I don't possess this particular tool which sucks ya know? The flipper on the Enlan totes works better than that on the ZT.
The Enlan's pocket clip is superior. Apart from being shiny, although who doesnt like shiny things?, it seems easier to clip in and out. The Enlan does lack thumbstuds BOOOOOO! But if you're good with a Dremel you can wave it, which is pretty cool.
All in all, I think the Enlan is actually the better knife - and not just for the money either, because who doesnt need the money to buy other things right? I'm relegating my 0200 to the shelf for now - the Enlan cuts better, pierces better, holds an edge better, carries better, is lighter and feels just as solid, besides being over one hundred dollars cheaper, hurray for savings! If these knives were the same price I would still spring for the Enlan, brand name is so fetch! Coolness aside L O L. It's simply the top in this knife coupling, quite perfect, while the ZT is the versatile one.
