What are those V&N knives? Like the "damascus" one - Etched or real damascus?
Also like the EL-02B - where are they selling those?

Just received the EL02. Two of them.

Shaving sharp out of the box. A little bit off centered when closed, barely perceptible, only when you look for imperfection. No rubbing to liner.
Axis lockup perfect, passed spine whack. The spring is much stronger than SRM 763, and not being broken in, unlocking is hard. Axis pull & flip is also hard due to spring stiffness.

Weight: lighter than EL01. Mostly due to thinner blade (hollow ground & shorter). EL01 is flat ground with much thicker & wider blade.

Pocket Carry: it is better than EL01, due to lighter weight & slimmer overall profile. It's also more sheepie friendly due to more elegant design, although the size is not small.

Micarta scale is smooth and has no texturing. Combined with the stiff axis spring, operating the lock in wet condition can be dangerous. This is the only issue, but easily fixed with some filework ;)
You might want to wait for the G10 model.

All in all, very solid & satisfying. Highly recommended.

dillon,

Sorry, don't hv time to take pics yet, but what you've posted is exactly how it looks like! Can't promise I will in near future.

If there 's a saying that a picture paints a thousand words, having the real thing in your hand & pocket paints a million words. :D

Unfortunately, I don't have a Sebenza, which blade shape is copied from, but compared to SRM 710, I can say this is poorman Sebenza on steroid. It has all the solid feelng & grip of EL01, but in an elegant format. Of course the tip is tapered & not an armor piercing one.

As of how it looks in hand, check this:

(I hope it's not considered deal spotting, it can be ordered from anywhere and I got it from exduct, this site is all in Chinese & has no price indicated anywhere)

Looks like a nice size! I really prefer knives with handles big enough for my whole hand to fit comfortable, and this knife looks like it'll do that no problem.

@dillon,

Bear in mind I'm 167cm tall, and Asian. The hand shown is similar to mine. As shown on your size comparison picture, this 02 handle is about same length as 01. Maybe for a person with bigger hand, this size just meets the length as four finger handle.

After trying for few hours, I start to like the micarta feel, and maybe with practice, no longer needing the filework ;).
Got some thumb & index pad soreness due to the axis knob :D. How it works for the G10 version without the cutout is beyond me.

Well, on Exduct, they've got a nice comparison pic with the EL-02 next to the SRM 710.

Blade on the EL-02 is clearly bigger. So's the handle. From the ruler next to the EL-02, handle length looks like about 11.5cm, which comes out to a little over 4 1/2". If so, that's a pretty good handle size, imo.

Darn it. Just placed an order there a week ago and didn't snag some of these. Back to place another order. :D

Update: Argh! They're out of stock. Gotta wait. :(

When I ordered, only 19 was left. It's mentioned that the next is the G10 version, not micarta.

Here's another ruler pics

The main "auction site" still has them....pondering getting one myself. I wonder how much lighter the G10 version will be.

It's likely the liner is full also. The weight difference would be only G10 vs Micarta. I don't know how significant it is.

Pocket carry is much better than EL01 due to shape & I guess the smothness of Micarta compared to aggressive texturing G10 of EL01.
