enlan/srm knives

Great knives for the money.Although there are sometimes issues like uncentered blades, light scratches on blades, unevenly sharpened edges, unpolished blade tangs and lockbars on the axis style knives, flat grounded blades that are not perfectly flat and are missing metal around the edges, and blade play.

From my experience, the knives will surely have at least one of the above mention problems but IMO they're still worth the money when comparing them to some of the knives they copy that cost 10 times more.

The good things:Top grade materials like micarta,G-10,stainless liners, and sharp jimping.

Well, my SRM/Enlan knives do not have any of the above flaws, apart from the 763 which is slightly off-center. Yet, it's not nearly as off-center as my Buck vantage pro, which costed me 6 or 7 times the price...

YIPE

You have to be careful with these knives, stabbed myself with my 710... that's not what the yipe was for, though... I was on another forum and made a post saying the 710 was a good little knife... later came back to find a PM stating that Sanrenmu 710s were poor knockoffs of Chris Reeve designs and that they were tarnishing his name. I was told any further posts mentioning Sanrenmu 710s would result in a permanent ban.

Be careful where you post!

What service? :D

Exactly.

I decided to buy a half dozen selected Chinese knives just to see 'what the hell' and I discovered that the fit and finish is excellent for a knife three times their cost. For those that are financially challenged, I think that they would make a fine purchase. For me, not so much, but I won't go there because I don't want a yellow 'chicklet'. ;)

how have you got this finish in ELAN´s blade

What finish?

I've seen an Enlan EL-01 on Youtube (a few of the first results) that has a dremeled-out choil, wave modification and Hinderer-ized flipper with acid etching...? That what you mean?

I have the ENLAN EL-01 KH sitting right here in front of me.

For the price that I paid ($16 shipped), it's a sweet deal! I simply can't get over how beefy this thing is. And how wonderful it feels in the hand. I love this knife.. :)

I do wish they wouldn't use that strange pivot... not the three-hole one, the curvy triangle one.

If you don't want to cut a slot into the pivot screw for a flat head screwdriver then try this pivot tool:

I think they're awesome for beginning knifeguys who want to experience most of the knowledge required in order to get into the knife hobby.
Learning how to sharpen.
Experiencing knife features such as framelocks, flippers, and even the Axis lock!
Forming general opinion in what type of design they like and if they really need something that'll hold an edge longer than 8Cr13MoV.
Maybe breaking up the country of origin barrier that at this point has probably has been burned into their heads.
Learning how to modify knives if they're interested in that.
Being able to experience the amazing feeling of having to choose which knife they want to EDC for the day.
However, I don't think they're as good for experienced knifeguys who demand higher end materials and what I call "Snob Quality".
