Ok folks, there has been 2 threads already that delved deeply enough into the matter and should of resolved everyones needs to lash out on both sides.

"Also, I wish the angst ridden Strider fanboys would take their mall ninja gear and comic books and take off."

The above quote was in another post I was reading regarding Strider's heat treating. I pretty much stayed out of the other 2 posts because it's not my fight.

This much I do know - I own 2 Strider knives, a SnG and a MV. When I read posts, like the one I quoted, I do not really feel welcome here because of it. You don't like Strider knives then don't buy them and feel free to post all you want on why. But when you start poking fun at people just because they own a Strider knife that starts to piss me off. Remember there are several members here with varied knife tastes - what you don't like, someone else does. I don't like Cold Steel, but I will not insult someone if they own a Cold Steel knife. I actually own 2 Cold Steel products from years back. I now choose to no longer buy their product. If someone asked me about them I would suggest other alternatives, but I would not insult them if they went on to buy a Cold Steel product. It's that posters decision & money on what they buy. Now if someone wants to start buying knives for me, then it's your money, buy me what you like.

Silly idea, but if someone makes a post proudly showing off their new Strider knife (or any knife) and you get the urge to make a snide comment - don't. What does it get you by making them feel bad? How about just keeping the comment to yourself and let the poster enjoy their knife.

Enjoying knives - kind of the concept that brought me to Blade Forums in the 1st place.

That was a pretty pathetic thing that poster interjected into that thread. This is a forum for people to discuss knives, and Strider makes knives. Insulting people, because they like Strider knives, is classless.

never let a few troll posts make you feel unwelcome. the overwhelming majority of users and members just want to talk knives and enjoy the interaction with those who share the same interest.

The overwhelming majority of people here agree that Strider Knife Company knives are great; they are well-designed, well-made, and entirely combat-worthy. I don't want to put words into the man's mouth, but I suspect that Spark would even agree with that. And Spark's accusations are not about the knives. Not once does he mention the knives.

Spark does not impugn the knives. His accusation is -- basically -- that Mr. Mick Strider himself habitually and continuously and deliberately misrepresents and exagerates his background and knowingly allows others within his influence to do so and that he claims and knowingly allows others within his influence to claim that that misrepresented and exagerated background makes him especially-qualified to design and make knives specifically for military purposes.

As a veteran himself, Spark is especially offended by such behavior.

So far, in literally thousands of posts on the subject now, nobody had refuted the facts of Spark's accusations. All of the replies thus far have basically been diversions and distractions. Nobody has addressed the key issues... nobody... not once.

The knives are not in question; Mr. Strider is.

This is not about Mick Strider's service record. This is about posters bashing another poster because of the fact they own, and enjoy, their Strider knives.

I think what's being pointed out is how a discussion about knives always brings up the other issues. I know a cheap shot when I see it, and addressed it in this case, but there is a perception that a paragraph explaining the background seems necessary every time.

Like we don't constantly prod "use the search feature!"

The heat treat thread stayed focused on grammatical understandings. I understand why it might have come up here, but it's a good example of the percieved bias. The OP only referred to it obliquely, but we get the full meal deal again, in a thread specifically addressing why does this have to happen?

Once again, the knives are not in question, Mr. Strider is.

G, I've respected your view point for years, but I think you unintentionally gave us the best example of the problem.

I'm all fine for letting the Strider issue fade.

Let's just try and work on the being polite and show some more respect to each other. You could easily substitute Cold Steel or Dark Ops instead of Strider and my point would be the same.

Someone new to the forum, and maybe knives in general, comes here and posts something about their new knife. They talk about what they like on it and ask others opinions. All this poster is doing is showing off their new toy. Just saying that because the poster has a knife that you hate, don't feel the need to belittle them & insult them. Rather than a "they suck and WTF did you buy it for" comment, try posting a polite & courteous answer explaining why or just don't post on it at all.

That is pretty much all, go back to enjoying knives.

BFC isn't perfect, but nothing & no one is. If you see a post that is over the line, hit the "report" button (top right, triangle with an ! in it) and report it. A mod will jump on it and take care of business.
