Just got back in, after an hour and a half drive, 45 minutes in the dentist's chair to pull 2 teeth, 6 hours or more of shopping and an hour and a half drive home. I definitely feel a need for different medication than usual. Pain meds. ( Which I have ).

Anyway, welcome to the both of you, and beware of ducks trying to talk you out of khukuris ( goes by the name of khukuri430-something-or-other ). Also calls himself a saint. We call him Quakipuss among other things.

Welcome to Uncle Bill's Stage Stop and Cantina.

This place is kind of the Star Wars Cantina, with some Spider Robinson's Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, and a bit of botth earlier and later Heinlein mixed in.

Oh yes. The Stage Stop, though he doesn't tell you, comes from the original crossing of the Truckee River about where Reno and Sparks meet. As they say, Reno isn't hell but you can see Sparks from it.

Anyway, the guy who ran the ferry there was named Lake. So it became known as Lake's Crossing. They later built the Sparks College of Knowlege ( AKA the Nevada Mental Health Institute ) there and later a facility named "Lake's Crossing" for those requiring forensic evaluation for the court. Or in the case of a friend who became suicidal after being arrested ( actually went to the judge and confessed - a JPO ), sent there for observation and medication. I went to see him a few times and other times took some training in their conference room.

I generally stayed away from the prisons though - after sending maybe 30 guys back there pending a parole board review of my preliminary inquiry parole revocation. I moved to the sticks working as a welfare social worker 'bout the time some started getting out afterward.

Anyway, be a bit careful around the Cantina during full moons. Otherwise it's a great bunch here.

Welcome Guys! :) Keep your eyes opening in the morning so you can snag up a sale or two. But watch out for some of the long time Regulares. It can be like sharks looking for food. :D lol

If you think Marines are OK I think you have a lot of company on this forum. I know for sure there are several that visit here quite often.:)

crooked knife, to the Cantina. It is a silly place. (line delivered in the fashion of King Arthur of the Britons in the epic tale of silliness, "Monty Python's quest for the Holy Grail)

Thanks guys, Rusty, I can see what you mean about full moons.

Wildmanh, actually I have a bit of an advantage over the rest of these guys, being at GMT morning is my mid afternoon, so as long as the deals are on a friday I should be able to get a bid in, not that I will have the money for the next few months:( .

Cheers guys,
Stefan

Hey Stefan. Yes, it is a city. I was there the time public transportation went on strike for a couple of days. We ended up walking the city. "A couple" :D of things left to do; that was my way of being funny. It seems that every time we go back there's more that we want to see; museums, famous pubs, shows, I can't remember the name of the huge toy store in Picadilly (I think it was Picadilly). I did get to see the Imperial War Museum and that was impressive. I need to visit some of the surrounding historical places.

I walked around in awe in Westminster Abbey just looking at the names. Unbelievable. Hey, if I ever get back that way I'll drop you a line and I'll spring for a pint at the Lamb and Flag.

Welcome aboard to you new guys.:D I don't come out often, so I rarely get to say HOWDEY!! to the new folk. You will love it here. These guys and gals are great! I have learned a lot here about khukuris, life and how best to live it, and people in general. It is enlightening and fun at the same time. ;) Stay and enjoy!!

Transport was on strike? Well, that could be just about any week of any year these days ;) . I see what you mean, the toy store is Hamlies, great shop but if I have kids i aint taking them there, remembering what I was like ;) . The IWM is cool. As for the pint, I may hold you to that one, though I would suggest one of the less famous pubs, that way you can get a pint for less than £2 :D

Thanks again guys,
Stefan

Two dogs:

Unfortunately as you get older you stil occassionally wake up feeling like the morning after the night before - except that you didn't do anything fun the night before. That is well and truly the pitts.

Newbies: fair warning here!
When blems or UBBB's ( Uncle Bill's Best Buys ) get posted, watch out for the Great White Sharks. Sometimes I feel like the forum is a bit like an English Gentleman's Club. With a bunch of veddy veddy proper sharks standing around sipping martinis in dinner jackets. Then the blems or deals go up and there's a feeding frenzy. Times like that you keep your hands way back inside the boat if you want to retain all your digits.
