I HAVE 3 ENTREK'S, BUT WHERE IS THIS COMPANY? THEY DO NOT ANSWER PHONES, THEY DO NOT ANSWER EMAILS, THEY DO NOT ANSWER THERE ORDER LINE, GOD FORBID I SHOULD REALLY NEED CUST SERVICE.

DO NOT BUY ENTREK, NOBODY IS HOME! :barf:

Entrek is a small knife concern owned and managed by Ray Ennis. Ray is an accomplished knife maker, this particular line of knives is what I would call mid-tech although there is some dispute over how this term is best applied. Quality bladeware at very reasonable prices. I haven't heard a complaint like yours before. As you may be aware this is the official site:

I have met Ray, he is a very pleasant person.
It's possible Ray may be away for awhile but I suspect he would be accommodating to you when time permits.

Thank You For Your Response, Yes I Have Been There, Done It!

I Am Also A Small Business, But Being In Business, Means You Take Care Of Business. The One Thing That I Have Always Been Serious About Is Responeding To Customer Needs. That Is How You Build You Client Base.

Yes, Mid Tech Knife, 440, Hard Enough, Sharp Enough, But If You Claim Your Knive's Are Finished By Hand, Then They Better Be Finished. The Sub0-hilt That I Purchased, Had Alum Blosters And A Guard That Were So Sharp They Would Cut Skin And Clothes And The Sheaths Are Terreble, They Bearly Hold The Knives And Sharp As The Knife.

I Would Expect This From China, Not From Usa, Hand Finished. In Fact, I Have Some China Made Knives, That Where Better Finished, Better Sheaths And A Lot Cheaper.

I Simply Wanted To Know If The Shealth Fails To Hold The Knife And Gets Damaged Because It Falls Out And/or If I Chose To Break Those Sharp Edges And Modify The Bolsters Slightly Wheather Or Not He Is Going To Warrenty The Product.

He May Be A Great Guy! But I Am Not Drinking Beer With Him, I Am Spending My Money On His Product Based Upon The Claims He Makes About His Product.

Opps! It Is Not Sunday Is It!

Maybe He Is On Vacation, Sick In The Hospital, Having Communication Problems That He Is Unaware Of, Etc. Maybe He's Chained To His Grinder, Too, In Preparation For The Blade Show Coming Up Next Week. I Would Tend To Give Him The Benefit Of The Doubt, Personally. He's Probably Just Away And Doesn't Have Access/Desire Access To His Email And May Not Be In A Position To Answer Messages On His Phone, Assuming You Left Them And Didn't Just Hang Up When The Machine Picked Up. Keep Us Posted On The Situation, Please. Thanks!

I wrote to Mr. Ennis yesterday, he very curtiously (and in quite some detail) responded to my querries today. For the record - my experience is a very different one. As the guys said, he was probably away when you wrote to him K19.

Then again he may have just looked at all the spelling and grammatical errors that I made on my last posting and decided that I was too stupid to communicate with!

Note to self: Wear your reading glasses!

OK! I know, artist/machinist and all that, not net savvy whatever. But, I do not think it is my responsibility to track him down! Yes, I left email and VM.

I have a ranger, which I like, but again, sharp edges belong on the blade, not on bolsters and guards where they cause the user pain!

If your going to boast hand fitting, semi custom, the final fit and finish should be better that basic production quality and how is a person to believe that he is going to honor a Life Time Warranty if he does not even honor an email or a phone call? Am I wrong?

I just wanted to add my 2 cents here. I have purchased several knives directly from Ray Ennis in the past and I have always enjoyed good communication with him. Indeed, I emailed him yesterday and received a response back this morning. I would not hesitate to purchase from him again.

I just wanted to add that I have also purchased a couple knives from Ray Ennis via telephone in the past and he has been excellent. Perhaps, the guy was taking a well earned vacation.

I have purchased several Entrek knives from dealers and like the value that this line offers. The sheaths could be better, but then the prices would go higher, so there has to be a balance somewhere. Two time i broke an Entrek (throwing it) and twice it was replaced by Mr. Ennis. The second time he even changed the heat treatment to better accomodate throwing the knife. In my book, no problems with Entrek. Hopefully they will get back with you and resolve these issues.

I had a Brute, which is a giant 1/4" thick American tanto. Got it in trade, traded it away for something I could use. The knife was nice, good fit and finish, nice handle, nice grinds, but the sheath was an abomination. In my book, if you're going to make a sheath that bad, don't bother. I spend about one hour from start to finish on each Concealex sheath I make for my knives. I probably get hosed on them for cost to make vs what gets added to the price of the knife, but I'd rather see knives offered with no sheath at all than one that is poorly made. I would be comfortable owning another Entrek, but I'd be ready to toss the sheath and make/have a new one made.

Uncle Sam is paying you to be on the Net? Wait, that's me! You’re fired!

Yeah, ??????????huh???????????

Mr. 19 - try a Palm Sander on the rough spots - I have bought NO knife in the past year without taking a palm sander to a few spots on the knife I have not cared for - at Entrek prices I cannot imagine this to be a problem.

I bought a Badger on Ebay, cut the belt loop off it and made the sheath into a static cord rig, used it snorkeling in the ocean for three weeks and then when i came home cleaned it with naptha, hit the rust spots with a sander and coated it with teflon oil. It's ready for the next trip into the Pacific. Not bad for sixty bucks and a damned sight better than that benchmade diver rescue knife with no guard at all and some sort of rustproof and soft steel.

Thanks Parker, I took care of it with an extra fine file and paper, the problem with the sub-hilt is that the blade very hard compared to the softer metal used in the guard and finger grip. He really should dehone the sharp edges fit these to the proper edges of the tang/handle.

The sheaths really are a joke! I have 3 of his knifes, I like the Ranger and I like the Tanto. I would like to see better fit and finish, it really only takes a second or two in the production process.

I have seen some of his other knives that I would most likely have bought, despite my complaint and if others have had good experiences with him, God Bless them.

I feel I made a good effort at communicating with him. One email, One voice mail, 4 unanswered calls, what is a guy to do?

When I look at other production knives in 440 C and a variety of HC steel that perform as well for under a $100.00, under $60.00 in some cases, with a better sheath.

Look, I bear him no ill will, he is most likely a very nice guy, it may well have been bad timing and I really do like some of his designs.
